Risk Activities
Due 10/3/2014
Last Day of the Grading Period - 10/3/2014
Last week of 6 weeks…a great time for you to:
Clean out binders
Clean out lockers
Refresh your supplies
Any units you have completed (taken the unit test on) go ahead and store those papers in a safe place at home. You will want them again later (semester exams, finals, etc.)
Look at your grades. Go to tutorials to make up any missing assignments or retake any low grades. This is your chance to improve your grades.
6th Grade - What is a 5pt Scale
In group we created a table similar to this discussing what we feel like at each level and what it would look like if we were at this level. At home create the same table with your parents. *Parents this is a communication tool. Please support your student by discussing each level as they create the table. Ask questions like, "What causes you to feel this way?", "What can I do to help when you feel this way?" etc.
7th Grade - Cost / Benefit Chart
In group 7th graders created a table using the 5pt. scale listing the costs and benefits at each level. There was great insight into each level. One of the best parts of our conversation was how we needed our supports to respond at each level. With your parents develop an action plan for when you are at level 3, 4 or 5 at home. How can they help you at each of these levels. Can't wait to see your plans!
8th Grade
In group 8th graders refreshed our memories about the 5pt. scale and the cost benefits. Part of our conversation was about what the costs and benefits will look like outside of the school environment. Talk with an adult about what would happen if they were a level 3 or above in the work place. Send Mrs. Deckinga an email about what you learned.
A few things about attendance
In middle school attendance is taken every class period. Each of those classes count toward your attendance record. When scheduling appointments it is best to schedule them during electives and lunches so that you are not missing any core content. It is preferable that all appointments be after 10:04 am so that it doesn't effect the school's funding for that day. Email Mrs. Deckinga what time you think appointments should be scheduled in your day. Tell your parents these times and why they should schedule appointments at those times.
