December
Woodward Park has so much to celebrate in December! Our choir, band and strings instructors and students have been practicing daily to perform in this month's Winter Concerts. Basketball season is in full swing and our Lady Wildcats are cheering at our Home Games! Walden students are celebrating their cultural heritages with our first annual Cultural Celebration!
And, of course, the countdown is on for Winter Break, beginning on Wednesday, December 21!
From the administration, teachers and staff, we wish all of our Wildcats and their families a safe and wonderful Winter Break and a Happy New Year!

Join the 6th grade teachers and staff along with a variety of community members to celebrate our diverse student body. Our students and staff have been preparing for a night of presentations, dance and music to showcase our cultural pride!
Translation services will be offered to our Woodward Park families to talk about all things school related and to answer all of your questions.
We can't wait to see you tonight @ Walden!
POLITE
During the month of December, Woodward Park Wildcats will focus on our Core Value of being POLITE, both inside and outside of the classroom!
During the school day, Wildcats can show their POLITE manners by following building and classroom expectations and using indoor voices. POLITE Wildcats are kind and respectful to teachers, staff, adults and students, and always keep their hands and feet to themselves. Being a positive leader, having positive interactions with others throughout the day and respecting others' privacy are all polite habits as well.

TAPS Program Volunteers at Charity Newsies
On the second Saturday of December, Charity Newsies will take to the streets and sell their newspaper for any donation amount.

Mark Your Calendar : 8th Grade Promotion!
Attention 8th graders and families!
There will be an 8th grade Promotion Ceremony on May 31, 2023, at 9:00am in the auditorium at Woodward Park Middle School.
There is a strict dress code for all participating students for this special occasion to come dressed in their Sunday best. Please begin preparations.
Requirements for the occasion are as follows:
-No Tennis Shoes, Sneakers, Slides, or Crocs
-No Jeans, Joggers, Sweats, Athletic Shorts
-No T-shirts
-No Tight/Form fitting/Sleeveless/Spaghetti strap dresses (if worn, students must have something to cover the shoulders and bottoms)
-Must attend rehearsal on 5/25/23 and 5/30/23
-Must be on time on the day of the ceremony, no later than 8:15am on 5/31/23. Late arrivals will not participate
-Must pass 3 out of the 4 classes (ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies) for the year

Pathway Express
Pathway Express arrives at the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium in December with FREE admission every weekend throughout the month for a celebration of holiday magic. Join families from across CCS and experience one of Central Ohio’s most cherished traditions - Wildlights.
In addition to creating memorable moments under the millions of lights and festive displays, students and families are invited to explore the incredible animal habitats home to more than 600 species from around the world.
Families are also invited to join CCS and partners for our monthly Family & Community Resources Day on December 10, from 6 to 8 p.m., and the event will feature:
Free admission to Wildlights;
Free Winter Coats for Students;
Holiday-Themed Giveaways;
New Book Bundles;
And More!

School's Out Winter
"Youth need opportunities for fun and engaging enrichment experiences when school is out, and your local community center provides just that! School’s Out Winter opens community centers for extended hours during Columbus City Schools’ winter break. Community centers will be open Dec.19-30 (closed Dec. 26) from 8 a.m.-6 p.m."
Dolly Parton's Imagination Library of Ohio
Dolly Parton's Imagination Library of Ohio mails kids one book each month until their 5th birthday. All kids in Ohio are eligible and this program is available at no cost to families. Only 37% of eligible kids in Franklin County are registered.
