POLITE

During the month of December, Woodward Park Wildcats will focus on our Core Value of being POLITE, both inside and outside of the classroom!

During the school day, Wildcats can show their POLITE manners by following building and classroom expectations and using indoor voices. POLITE Wildcats are kind and respectful to teachers, staff, adults and students, and always keep their hands and feet to themselves. Being a positive leader, having positive interactions with others throughout the day and respecting others' privacy are all polite habits as well.

Social Awareness

Being polite demonstrates excellent Social Awareness!

"Social Awareness: The abilities to understand the perspectives of and empathize with other, including those from diverse backgrounds, cultures and contexts. This includes the capacities to feel compassion for other, understand broader historical and social norms for behavior in different settings, and recognize family, school, and community resources and supports.

Social Awareness Looks Like:

Showing empathy and compassion

Understanding and expressing gratitude

Identifying diverse social norms

Showing concern for others and their feelings

Listening to others' perspectives

Recognizing strengths in others

TAPS Program Volunteers at Charity Newsies

On Thursday, November 17, our TAPS (Teen and Police Service) student members volunteered at Charity Newsies with police officer mentors. Charity Newsies was founded in 115 years ago in Columbus, OH with the mission of no child missing school due to inadequate clothing. Our students provided enough volunteer work to fulfill 2-3 weeks of service for Charity Newsies; they worked hard, had fun and learned about giving back to the community.

On the second Saturday of December, Charity Newsies will take to the streets and sell their newspaper for any donation amount.
