Greetings MHS Community! We hope all of you are healthy and safe. Even though the school building is closed, the library media center has many digital resources available to students and families as we navigate through the coming weeks of distance learning. Ms. Weaver is available to help!

Also, April is School Library Month and we encourage you to take part in the #ReadTogether read-a-thon and take advantage of the great ebooks and audiobooks available through FCPS and FCPL resources!

MHS Databases

MHS Databases are always available. Students can use this link to access full list of MHS databases along with usernames and passwords to gain remote access.

Axis 360

Axis 360 is the FCPS ebook and audiobook platform. Students can access Axis 360 on a computer/Chromebook or as an app on a phone or tablet. If students are using the app, make sure to relect Frederick County HS Public Schools prior to searching. Students must use their eight-digit student idea to check out books. Here is a link to Axis 360.
We've just added a ton of new titles on the Axis 360 platform. Here are a few titles worth checking out!

FCPL Resources

Students also have access to all the Frederick County Public Library resources with their Student Success Card (or FCPL library card). These cards allow students to access all the ebooks/audiobooks, databases, and other incredible resources the public library has to offer.

Students type 119829 along with the eight-digit student ID number as the username. Then use “student” as the password. To change this password and to set a default library location in the future, log in and visit the “personal information” tab.

FCPS Grade-Level E-Books and Resources

FCPS Central Office has created a great site containing supplemental resources for families which contain resources to engage in students in educational activities. On this site, they've compiled an extensive list of grade level ebooks and other resources.

Join the Read-a-thon on April 17-18!

The Maryland Association of School Librarians (MASL) will be hosting a read-a-thon on Friday, April 17 into Saturday, April 18. So grab a book and read with us! Post pictures and share your progress during the read-a-thon using #MASLMDreads and #ReadItTogether. ANYONE can take part in the read-a-thon, not just Marylanders. So encourage out-of-state friends and relatives to join in as well!

In addition to the read-a-thon, Ms. Weaver will be posting book talks, various reading-related activities, and bookish challenges on Instagram and Twitter as way to promote reading and literacy. This is an opportunity for us to build a community of readers. We can take some time to reading somethign and share what we've read virtually during this time of social distancing.
