Engaging Children in Reading and Science
Through Picture Books Science textbooks can be overwhelming for many children while picture books tend to focus on fewer topics and give more in-depth information of the concepts. Join us in this session to learn how to combine science and reading in a natural way. Experience hands-on science lessons using picture books to help your child read to learn about the science concept being taught. You will leave this session with lots of tools to help you engage your child in science at home and help open your child’s mind to discover the wonders of science that surrounds them on a daily basis!

Life Care Planning
Creating a future that provides for both your own financial needs and those of a dependent with special needs can feel overwhelming. Addressing the reality of what does a special needs caregiver need to do today to ensure the sustainable care for a special needs loved one at the death of a caregiver. This workshop will discuss four focus areas that should be considered with integrated planning, and a recommended timeline to avoid any disruption in the care of a loved one with special needs. General overview of Letter of Intent, Special Needs Trusts, Guardianship, Public Assistance, etc. This training will be provided by Special Care Planner, Jeffrey A. McCraken, ChSNC, LUTCF, FSCP.

Parenting with Love & Logic for Special Needs
Participants will learn a process for understanding the unique needs and competencies of each child, how to avoid becoming overwhelmed by a child’s multiple, severe disabilities, how to maintain healthy “can do” expectations, tips for teaching essential life skills, skills for developing and maintaining a cooperative parent-school team, and strategies for reaching discouraged and resistant learners! This curriculum is designed to be a follow-up/bonus program for those that have already attended a Love and Logic class. It is not required, but recommended that you attend if you already have an understanding of the Love and Logic techniques.

ESC-20 Virtual Transition Community Fair
This session will be presented via Zoom and include local community agencies who support LEAs and Families with Transition services. Hear a short presentation from each community agency about the support they provide to school districts, charter schools and families. After the main session, participants will be able to visit the agencies' virtual booths. Both school personnel and parents/caregivers are welcomed to attend!
