Bobcat Weekly Update
We Know Every Child by Name and by Need
May 31, 2018
Lakeview Leaders,
At the end of every year, I tend to get reflective and sentimental. I really cannot convey clearly enough how amazing I believe each and every one of you are. For each of us, at different degrees, this year has had its ups and downs. Some of us have suffered great loss and heartbreak while others are adapting to changes in our lives. The one thing I have noticed regardless of the situation, is the support and love you have shown one another. There is nothing greater than the power of a great team. You have picked each other up and given help where needed without skipping a beat.
Throughout the year, you have embraced the belief that relationships matter. You have gone above and beyond to truly know your students by name and by need. You have treated students with respect and you have put kids first in the decisions you make. This year, more than any other, I have seen students blossom and thrive because of the time you have put into building them up. It really is remarkable!
My goal for you this summer:
I have to admit that in the past I have used summer as a way to prep for the upcoming year. I tend to have a problem with slowing down (shocking I know). However, I know how hard you work and this summer I want you to use your summer break to REVITALIZE. My goal for you is to REST. You have truly earned it. Take time with your FAMILY. Slow down your days. BREATH. I don't have a summer reading list or technology challenge for you. RECHARGE and be ready to come back as your BEST self.
If you are dying for some summer PD (outside of district opportunities), my suggestion is twitter. If you don't have an account make one. Follow others who are interested in the same topics you are. Join a PLN (Personalized Learning Network). I have found twitter to have a larger impact on my professional development than just about anything else. Of course, I have a list of books you can borrow if you would like as well.
When ever people ask me about where I work, I sometimes struggle trying to convey what a special place Lakeview is. Never have I worked at a campus with such a strong sense of community and family. It is was sets us apart and what makes us so great.
Thank you again for all you do for one another and for our students!
