From The Principal's Desk
Tēnā koutou katoa,
You may be interested to learn of a development of some significance for our learning community, as our work on developing a 'Community of Schools' based on our 'Kotuitui' network has now been approved by the Minister for Education.
This aligns our school with a new government initiative under the 'Investing In Educational Success' banner. Along with colleagues and Board of Trustees at neighbouring schools, TPS has played a key role in moving this forward as we see significant potential benefit for teachers and learners across the wider community. Our acceptance as a Community of Schools will lead to additional funding targeted at enabling schools and teachers to:
- share expertise in teaching and learning
- support each other through professional collaboration and inquiry
- support students’ transition from primary to intermediate and secondary
While we will have much work ahead next year in establishing the details and new roles and responsibilities that will help to realise this, it marks an important step for us as we consider ways in which we will work more closely across the sector to ensure success for all learners.
Our work with Kotuitui to date in preparation for this has served as a confirmation of what I have known for a long time about the high quality of teaching and learning in the local educational environment. We are fortunate to have a network of dedicated teachers, leaders and learners who are all involved in excellent work in a range of learning contexts, and who I hold in very high personal and professional regard.
Kotuitui (which means to 'interweave' or connect) will be made up of 10 schools, including Green Bay High School, Glen Eden Intermediate, Titirangi Primary, Kaurilands School, Woodlands Park, Laingholm, Konini, Green Bay Primary, Fruitvale and New Lynn Primary. Together, we aim to explore how the diversity of approaches, identity and character in our respective schools can be maintained and enriched by learning from and in partnership with each other.
It's an exciting professional vision of collaboration that we aim to share with you as the model is developed further, and which I have no doubt will be of benefit for our learning community. It is a goal and an aspiration that is neatly summarised by the network whakataukī: "Nā tō rourou, nā taku rourou, ka ora ai te iwi: With your basket and my basket the people will thrive."
Ka kite anō au i a koutou

TOUCH RUGBY RESULTS
“TPS - Touch Rugby 2015”
Another great day for Touch Rugby and luckily the rain stayed away in the afternoon so that we could play. Results for week 3 (Nov 18th) were:
Titirangi Thundercats: The Thundercats played the Small Blacks and came up against some star try scorers. Although the result was 6-1 to the Small Blacks, there was some stand out play from the Thundercats and some valiant efforts at defence. Player of the day was Kylen for his quick restarts and his excellent running around opposition with the ball.
Titirangi Tuis: Nov 18th: Results – Tuis 5 vs Kaurland Bullets 9, Great effort by the Tuis this week in all aspects of the game with some really dedicated running in attack and defence. The continued improvement gives me no doubt of some thrilling games to come. Player of day , Jack L for a fabulous all round game but in particular in the play of the ball where he showed excellent persistence to get there and help his team.
From Nov 11th : Results: ICS 7 and Tuis 0, iIt was a tuff game for the Tuis this week , they showed a much improved follow up on the play of the ball through the game and were unlucky not to score only being caught very late in a couple of their runs for the try line. Player of the day was Georgie showing again great determination when running.
Titirangi Takahes: Takahe’s went down fighting 5-7 to the Ninjas. Both teams displayed some fantastic running attack play scoring tries out wide and on occasion slicing up the middle. On the day the Ninjas were a little better organised in defence preventing many of the Takahe’s from scoring. Player of the day was Liam for scoring three ties.
Titirangi Titans: 18th Nov: TPS Titans drew 2-2 when they played Glenora Fearless Bears, it was a hard and close game! Player of the day was Cameron McKelvie for improving game after game!
Results from 11th Nov: TPS Titans had another win this week when they played the Roosters! Player of the day was Kaio Martinez for just being AWESOME!!!
Titirangi Torpedos: The game was a real challenge for them. The result was to 6 - 5 to the PK Black. The player of the day was Ryan C and for showing the great skills to the team.
Titirangi Transformers: No results this week
Titirangi Trailblazers: The Senior Athletics day took its toll by late afternoon and made for tired legs and a hard game of Touch this week! An excellent effort put in by the whole team to come away with a 3 all draw! Players of the day were Nate M on attack and an awesome low level touch around the leg and to Charlize C for excellent defence out on the wing.
With thanks to our Platinum Sponsors
