Background Information

Charlemagne, also known as Charles the Great, was born in April of 747 and died January 28th of 814 in Aachen, Austrasia.

How Charlemagne Became King Of The Franks

When Pippin, his father, died in 768 AD, the Frankish empire was seperated into two sections. Him and his brother, Carloman, each got one of the sections. Three years later when Carloman died, Charlemagne took over the whole empire.
