Principal Knapp's Notes
Some thoughts for the starting school year
Welcome to Cecil!
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,
Welcome to San Jose Cecil! I am very excited and honored that you have chosen to join us for our inaugural year and I cannot wait to get to know each of you.
This is the first of many upcoming family communications. Please make sure that you keep an eye out for future emails and social media posts. We post to Facebook and Instagram and, for fun, to TikTok!
Here are some updates on school development so far. As you know, construction is under way. I have received many questions as to what will happen if the construction is not completed on time. please be assured that I am working with San Jose Schools for a contingency plan for classrooms should construction not be complete. I expect to be able to announce a contingency plan sometime in the next month- stay tuned.
Staff interviews have begun and we are looking for the right team to lead the inaugural year and take care of your kids. I also have been meeting with local area businesses to let them know about our school and establish business partnerships. It's a busy, busy time!
As the school year begins to wrap up and students are preparing for end of the year assessments, I want to encourage all of our future Cecil students to do their very best on their EOC exams, FSAs and final exams- it will set you up for success at Cecil.
Stay tuned for more updates!
Mrs. Knapp
Construction contingency plans
As you know, construction is currently under way on our new building. As with any construction project, there are many things that are out of our control- from weather to inspections- that could delay the opening of the building. Add to that the effects of the pandemic and supply chain shortages and it is possible that there is a delay in the building being ready.
In the event that the building is not ready by August 15, San Jose Schools is making contingency plans for San Jose Cecil operations. San Jose Schools has purchased a building at 4441 Westconnett Blvd, which would serve as a temporary location for San Jose Cecil. The building will be newly renovated and ready for school on August 15. Transportation from the Cecil campus to and from the temporary campus so families would be able to drop off and pick at Cecil. This would be supervised by San Jose Cecil staff.
As we get closer to opening, we will continue to keep you updated on construction updates.
