Monroe School Veterans Day 2021

Health Update

If you are traveling internationally over the Thanksgiving holiday break, we are offering a voluntary COVID-19 test screening so that your child(ren) may not have to quarantine upon returning to school. Those who sign up will receive three COVID-19 PCR tests at school prior to the break that must be taken at home and brought to school on Nov. 29, Dec. 1, and Dec. 3. As long as students do not develop symptoms, do not test positive, and do not fall under any other COVID-19 exclusion, they may remain in school.

According to the IDPH guidelines, if you choose not to get your student tested after international travel, they must quarantine for 10 days. As a reminder, students who quarantine for travel are not eligible for live-streaming.

Please remember that if your student is fully vaccinated (14 days have passed since the student’s second COVID-19 vaccination dose), quarantine or test screening is not required.

Those interested must sign up by Monday, Nov. 15, so that we can order an adequate number of tests. To sign up for the international travel test screening, click here.

If your child will be absent from school for any reason, please complete the appropriate absence form, which can also be found on the Monroe School website.

Reporting your student absent for an illness-related reason

Reporting your student absent for a non-illness-related reason

For those who are receiving a COVID vaccine, we have added a question to our Student Absence forms which asks, "Have you received a COVID vaccine in the last three(3) days?" If your answer is YES, your child(ren) will NOT need to get a Covid test for their symptoms.

We ask that you please report your child's absence prior to 8:30am via our attendance line (630-861-4298) and/or the links above. Upon request of the parent, the reason for an absence will be kept confidential. If we do not receive a report in advance of the start of the school day, we will make phone calls to check on any student for whom we have not received prior information from a parent.

COVID-19 INTERIM EXCLUSION GUIDANCE FOR STUDENTS (rev. October 18, 2021 - this interim guidance is subject to updates) - this is the decision tree our nurse refers to when determining if a symptomatic Individual needs to be excluded from in-person learning.

Parent Teacher Conferences

We look forward to meeting with our families next week to discuss your child's academic, social, and emotional achievement and growth. To those who have a conference scheduled on Monday, 11/22 or Tuesday 11/23, our teachers will be sending home virtual conference links via email prior to your conference.
