Dear EWS Families:
We have had a great start to the school year!
Just a reminder –
Please remember to send your students to school with a reusable water bottle and filling snack daily.
All students have a snack break during the day. Please pack a healthy snack EVERY DAY! Great snacks include easy to eat fruits and veggies like apples, oranges, carrots and cucumbers as well as whole grain snacks including granola bars, crackers. Cheese sticks and yogurts are another great option. These ideas help keep hungry bellies at bay and students ready to learn!
Have your child bring a water bottle (or two) from home EVERY DAY. Students are able to use the bottle filling stations throughout the day to refill bottles as needed.

FAMILY LITERACY DAY - NOV 1, 2022
Families across the country come together to celebrate National Family Literacy Day on November 1st. Reading has many benefits and even more so when it comes to children. Families have so much to gain from reading together. Besides helping young children develop good vocabulary skills, it provides valuable family bonding time. National Family Literacy Day also serves as a platform to appreciate the empowerment effort of literacy programs.
IDEAS/ACTIVITIES
Create a reading nook
If you don’t have enough room for a library, carve out a special space in your home for reading. Make sure your children’s books are close by and encourage them to use the space often.
Go to the local library
Take a fun trip to the local library with your family. If libraries are scarce, the bookstore will do.
Join a book club
Book clubs are a great way to develop reading habits.
