Our Strategies to Build a Think Culture That Can be Adopted at Home
At the AISW elementary we are striving for critical thinking classrooms and are attentive to the roles of students and teachers in a thinking-centered environment. This can look much different from what might be observed in classrooms where the teacher seems to be more active than many students. The most effective teachers know how to minimize the time spent directing the learning and when to shift control to the students. We often say to never work harder than your students. Students should not come to school to see teachers think and work, instead, teachers should come to school to see students think and work.
We encourage you to use these strategies from our classrooms with your student. You can adopt them at home whenever you are having a discussion or supporting your student(s) work.
