MRS. IBRAHIMOVIC INVITES YOU . . .
MRS. WALSH, LINCOLN'S LRC DIRECTOR
PARENTS WILL WANT TO READ THIS!
YA Checkout Policy
Lincoln’s library collection has been carefully cultivated to reflect our community’s demographics and changing world. Lincoln’s LRC Director, Mrs.Michelle Walsh, selects multicultural, award-winning, and popular children’s and teen novels. YA novels are often featured in our collection.
What is a YA novel?
YA novels transition between children and adult novels. These may include friendship, first love, relationships and identity. Some focus on the specific challenges of youth and may be referred to as “coming of age” novels. They may contain more mature themes and language.
Lincoln’s Check Out Policy on YA Novels
At this time, Lincoln is asking parents or guardians to please notify Lincoln’s LRC Director, Mrs. Michelle Waters-Walsh if you DON’T wish for your student to read YA materials. We will note this in our database and do our best to ensure your student(s) doesn’t have these materials checked out to them. Contact Mrs.Walsh at mwalsh@d57.org
Great YA Resources to Consult
As the parent(s) or guardian(s) you serve as the guide for what you feel is appropriate for your student.

THE HEALTH OFFICE
As we enter flu season, I want to review the symptoms and guidelines for the flu. The symptoms can include cough, sore throat, headache and fever. Flu symptoms can be troublesome for persons with asthma or other chronic health concerns. In order to keep our school environment as healthy as possible as we enter another flu season, please keep your student home if they are not well. If your student exhibits symptoms mentioned above, the Cook County Department of Public Health recommends you seek medical attention if you have concerns.
CCDPH recommends the following measures to prevent the spread of respiratory illness:
1) Individuals with flu-like symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat, headache) should remain home until at least 24 hours after they are free of fever without the use of fever-reducing medication.
2) Speak with your health-care provider regarding influenza vaccination.
3) Wash hands often with soap and water, especially after coughing or sneezing. If water is not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizing gel.
4) Cover your nose and mouth with tissue when coughing or sneezing. Tissue should be thrown away immediately after use.
5) Cough or sneeze into your sleeve if tissue is not available.
Thank you,
Susie Smith RN

Question: Can we get into the building over Winter Break?
Answer: December 20 is the last day of school before break.
Parents, please take note that the building will be closed at the end of the day on Friday, December 20. Students will not be able to get back into the building until January 6 — when district buildings reopen. Students should remember to take home their musical instruments, Chromebooks, binders, etc., on Friday, December 20.
Question: I can’t remember . . . Did I pay for my child’s yearbook online with my school registration fees?
Answer: NO! Paying for a yearbook was NOT an option at registration. PLEASE CHECK OUT THIS NEWSLETTER FOR information on how to order your yearbook! Thank-you!
