Review of NYS Graduation Pathway Measures
Strengthening Data Privacy and Security in NY State
The Board of Regents adopted Part 121 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education on January 13, 2020. These rules will implement Education Law Section 2-d and provide guidance to educational agencies and their third-party contractors on ways to strengthen data privacy and security to protect student data and annual professional performance review data. The regulation went through multiple sets of revisions and three rounds of public comments and went go into effect January 29, 2020. Edutech is offering multiple training opportunities for educators and data privacy officers to educate and prepare districts for these changes.

NYLA is working to support a bill that would mandate school librarians in all elementary and secondary schools in New York state. To learn more, please review and familiarize yourself with the attached talking points to help support the passing of this bill.

The "ins and outs" of inventory: March 24
In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to complete different types of inventory in Follett Destiny. Participants will also receive training on how to run reports and use data to support inventory and weeding. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to review Follett data and reporting features as they pertain to student data privacy best practices and NYS Ed Law 2D.

W-FL BOCES Personalized Learning Conference: Apr 1-2
Day one will feature national speaker and author, Thomas Murray. All conference participants will receive a copy of this book. In addition to Mr. Murray's keynote, the day will be filled with breakout sessions and opportunities to network with colleagues that are also dedicated to empowering all students. Day two will feature more breakout sessions led by educators from our region as well as a keynote by NYS Teacher of the Year, Rachel Murat.

Creating LGBTQ+ Inclusive Libraries: April 9
In this interactive workshop participants will discuss current climates for LGBTQ+ employees and clients, using respectful and inclusive language, creating inclusive policies for libraries, best practices for inclusion and creating an environment that feels safe and welcoming for everyone.
