I GET A KICK OUT OF PLAYING SOCCER

Coach Matt would like to know if any students in 5th through 7th grade have an interest in having a school soccer team. It will be a coed team. We do not have enough students to have separate boys and girls teams. We had a coed team for the last few years before COVID paused soccer. We were extremely successful on the field - won most of our games.

Please email Coach Gay at gknock@saintmm.org if your child is interested in playing soccer.

There will be a limited number of games since most schools do not have a coed team. AND we need coaches. If you are interested in coaching or assisting with coaching, please contact Coach Matt at marnold@saintmm.org. You'll get a kick out of it.

ANNUAL THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE

The Food Drive is a parish/school group service project in which we team with the Good Sams ministry at St. Luke’s to provide meals for the hungry and needy in our community. Our SMM school families donate food items assigned by homerooms. The Mission Club will collect items from homerooms and the High School Youth Group will sort the items and place in boxes. Donations from SMM provide a box of several meals for 25 families in our community. We will collect donations from November 8 - 17.

Please see the graphic below for homeroom assignments. Thank you for your generosity.

Beginning on November 29, the Monday we return from Thanksgiving, we will begin utilizing the cafeteria lines again. Here is the procedure:

1) We will still have only one lunch option until the food shortage is resolved

2) Students in one grade level will enter on one side and the other grade level will enter on the other side

3) Students will line up in a single file.

4) Students will not stop to pay as meals are still free for the remainder of the year (or until we hear otherwise)

YOU CAN PUT YOUR TUTUS BACK IN STORAGE ...

At least for now! We only had a handful of students turn in Talent Show forms so we are postponing the Talent Show until spring. We will make an announcement about the new date as soon as it has been determines. Than you for your understanding.

JOKES NEEDED FOR KIDS’ CLARION

We all love a good (corny) joke at SMM. We have a joke of the day on WSMM and a joke of the week in the Charger Chronicles. Now our students can have their favorite jokes published in the "Kids' Clarion." Please check this out ...

Kids’ Clarion, the monthly section in the Clarion Herald written for and by students in grades preK through 7 who are enrolled in a Catholic elementary school, Parish School of Religion or Catholic homeschooling program, invites its young readers to send in their favorite jokes for publication consideration. Joke submissions can be emailed to bdonze@clarionherald.org; faxed to (504) 596-3020; or mailed to the Clarion Herald, Attn: Kids’ Clarion, P.O. Box 53247, New Orleans, LA. 70153. To be considered for publication, each joke must include the full name of the child submitting it, his/her grade, and the name of his/her Catholic elementary school or Parish School of Religion. Thanks to the many principals, teachers and parents who have facilitated this request over the past 21 years of Kids’ Clarion. Our “Jokes” section is very popular with adults and children alike, so any help you can give us to keep the good humor going is very much appreciated! – Beth Donze, Kids’ Clarion editor
