Mayfield High School Weekly Update

March 19, 2023

Big picture
Mayfield Families,

Although the weather does not show it, we are only 4 days away from the end of the 3rd quarter and the beginning of spring break.

As the quarter comes to a close, our teachers and counselors have been working hard to ensure that your children are on track to meet their academic goals. Please take some time to check in with your child about their grades and assignments, and don't hesitate to reach out to their teachers if you have any concerns.

We hope that all of our students and families have a restful and enjoyable Spring Break! Spring Break will begin on Friday, March 24th, and will conclude on Sunday, April 2nd.

April 3rd will mark the first day of the 4th quarter. That means only 9 weeks remaining in the school year. Get some rest and rejuvenation over spring break so that we can finish this school year strong!

Ski Club 2024

Dear Future Ski & Snowboard Club Families,

We want anyone interested in joining Ski & Snowboard Club for the 23-24 season to know that the EPIC pass through Vail Resorts is on sale now for $259. We learned this year that the pass that was purchased through ski club did not include extra passes and the ability to go to Boston Mills or Alpine on Fridays after ski club was over. These were benefits of joining ski club that was always included and have been taken away. So, we are encouraging every family to purchase an EPIC OHIO PASS if possible. This pass would allow your student to go to Boston Mills, Brandywine, Mad River, and Alpine any day of the week for the entire season.

There is an additional cost to rent equipment each week if your student does not own their own equipment.

There will be an additional cost for the Bus that will be necessary if your student wants to join us for the 5 weeks through MHS and that information will go out to parents in October. If you are only interested in the 5 weeks of Ski & Snowboard with lessons, that information will also go out in October.

Please email me at sface@mayfieldschools.org if your son or daughter is thinking about joining Ski & Snowboard Club next season and let me know if they are a middle school or high school student.

John Steadman Award

John Steadman taught and coached basketball at Mayfield High School from 1970 to 1995. He was the head coach from 1970 to 1988. Mr. Steadman was a tremendous motivator, inspiring his students and athletes to be the best they could be. The Steadman Award was established to give Mayfield athletes the opportunity to be voted into the Mayfield Athletic Hall of Fame for honors worthy of “Hall of Fame” status but did not meet the established criteria. The Steadman Award winner will be inducted into the Mayfield Athletic Wall of Fame and be recognized at the Mayfield Alumni Hall of Fame dinner that is part of Homecoming week.

If you would like to nominate someone for the 2024 Steadman Award, please be sure to fill out this nomination form
