March 3rd: National Maintenance Worker Day

Please join me in thanking Evergreen's incredible Maintenance Team--Bill Jones, Diane Sullivan, and Mark Grisdale--along with all of the PV Maintenance Department. Mr. Jones, Mrs. Sullivan, and Mr. Grisdale are incredibly dedicated to the success of the students and staff at Evergreen and we are unbelievably fortunate to work with them each day. Thank you for all you do!

Our Magnificent Musicians

Students in Mr. Gliatto's General Music classes are continuing to learn and try new things!

Kindergarten is learning to move around in complicated ways and make music alone and as a team.

1st Grade can read and play beats, notes, and rests and are exploring instruments and sounds around them.

2nd Grade can name all the orchestra families and they love to make up dance moves and charades when we sing.

3rd Grade is learning how to play the recorder, which will teach correct instrument technique to get them ready for band lessons next year as well as reading sheet music. So far we've learned how to make the instrument sound soft and clean, instead of "ugly" and loud and where to put our fingers to change the pitch.

4th Grade has been exploring genres that come from Black history, such as gospel music, reggae, and blues, and songs that include elements from multiple styles. We also recently explored digital music creation on our Chromebooks.

5th Grade has started our Ukulele unit and can play at least two chords that switch back and forth. We have also begun learning our songs for the 5th Grade Chorus concert in April and our special trip to sing the National Anthem for a lacrosse game at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
