George Couros is my hero!
Over the weekend I attended TCOE #TechRodeo where George Couros was the keynote speaker. George is a former principal and now Division Principal of Innovation and Learning at Parkland School Division in Alberta, Canada. He was instrumental in transforming learning in his district and modeled that transformation through his blog The Principal of Change (http://georgecouros.ca/blog/)
He is the author of the book, The Innovator's Mindset, about the journey of his transformational learning. If you are familiar with Growth Mindset, George has used that idea and springboarded into innovation in education. The library will be purchasing several copies if anyone wants to read it. (I'm not lending my copy because it is now signed!) You could also watch his TED Talk below. (He is much funnier in person.)
I also included our selfie. We have talked on Twitter previously but our first meeting IRL!

Unicorn Shout-Out : Bambi Narvarte
Bambi teaches ELA here at NBHS. Besides truly caring about her students and their success, she tried something new with them this year. To follow up their reading of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, she brought her students to the library to complete a BreakoutEDU puzzle over the novel. Clues were hidden all over the library and the students used novel knowledge and library skills to solve the puzzle and open the box. It was an awesome way to tap into strengths and problem solving for her group of kids.
