6th Grade News
VAMS, March 18th
Welcome to Digital Learning with Your 6th Grade Teachers!
Hello, 6th-Grade Friends!
To help us make sure everyone in our VAMS community is getting the most up to date 6th grade information, please reach out to your friends and neighbors and ask if they are getting our communication through email, Remind, and Facebook. If they are not, please send us their contact information (email, phone number, etc.) so we may reach out to them and be sure to get them connected.
How will I get my assignments and how will I turn them in?
All 6th grade core teachers will use the heading "Digital Learning" as a topic heading in Google Classroom. This should help you easily find each week's assignment. In order to easily navigate Google Classroom, click on the "Classwork" tab at the top of the page and then scroll to the topic heading "Digital Learning" for each week of assignments.
PARENTS: Every Monday, a newsletter will go out to further explain the assigned lessons.
How do my students access Google Classroom?

Whether you're in Mrs. Flores' or Mrs. Boevers' class, assignments will be posted in the Google Classroom that you were ALREADY USING. There are currently OPTIONAL assignments posted.
All other core teachers already have students up and running with their Google Classrooms and will receive further instructions when first assignments go out on Monday.
What if I don't have internet access or a device? What if I only have one device for multiple students in the home?
Teachers will offer a paper version of the content they are teaching for the week. Please know the hard copy assignments will likely look different than the digital assignment. Parents can pick up student work on Mondays between 7:30-9:30 AM and 2:30-4:30 PM every week at VAMS. Parents will be asked to return their child's assignments by the following Monday.
The 6th-grade teachers are in the midst of contacting each family by phone and are making notes for every student requiring a hard copy of assignments. We will have folders labeled with student names who require hard copies for pick up on Monday mornings. When returning your student's work the following Monday, please drop off your child's folder for us to use again until we return to school. We will also have extra copies of work for any family needing a hard copy in a pinch.
If you are in a situation with multiple children all trying to share one device, please reach out to one of the 6th-grade teachers. We are working on getting some of our school Chromebooks checked out for families in need.
What if I need to get in touch with the teacher regarding the assignments or if I have any questions?
Help! There's too much information! Between Facebook, Remind, Google Classroom, and emails, I don't know what's important and what we are supposed to do!
Not to fear! We are putting out a lot of info right now because we want to make sure we reach all of you. Here is a basic outline of what is what:
Google Classroom: This is the assignment hub. All assignments are going to be here.
Facebook: This is the "optional, fun stuff." There will be no assignments posted on Facebook. We will post announcements on Facebook, but fear not, no "lessons" will be on Facebook.
Remind: This is a communication tool only. No mandatory assignments will be posted through Remind.
Email: This is a communication tool only. No mandatory assignments will be posted through email.
What about our Medieval Times field trip?
What about electives?
You should be receiving the band/choir newsletters. Please be sure you are reading the newsletter, signed up for the Remind, and accessing Goggle Classroom.
