Resurrection Weekly Update #22
The Way to Stay in Touch with All Things Res: 3/16 - 3/23
A few reminders...
As we wrap up March (can you believe it?!?!), there are a few business items that I want to quickly review.
1. Who does not LOVE a trip abroad? We have already received one request for Summer 2019. IF you are interested in creating a trip abroad for Res students, please submit a proposal, to my office, by April 6th. The proposal should, at a minimum, contain: identified student interest groups, chaperones, location of trip and outline of logistics, connection to course content (either within your department or across departments).
2. Attendance. In my most recent reviews of attendance, I am noticing an increasing level of error. There are many instances in which students are absent and reported as present within a class, marked as missing from a class but present, or simply, attendance is not submitted. As a reminder, your attendance is a legal account for student presence (105 ILCS 5/24-18 is the pertinent section of Illinois School code). To reiterate, I expect the attendance to be taken correctly and within the first 10 minutes of the class session. If you have any questions, please see me.
3. The schedule for next year is underway! As of today, we are in the process of finalizing student registrations to begin building the section calendar for next year. Your curriculum coordinator will meet with you in the coming three weeks to discuss courses that you may want to teach in the coming year. We are still aiming for an April 25 target date for schedule completion!
4. This Friday, we will host a rotation style professional development series with 6 sessions. You will rotate from session to session much like you did at the opening year inservice.
5. Student surveys. We are in the beginning process of designing student perception surveys for current courses. Curriculum coordinators will assist in the design process.
Have a great week!

Instruction & Technology Updates
New Schoology Feature Alert
Great news! Instructors now have the ability to preview a course or managed assessment and experience it as a student would before distributing it.
Simply click on the “Preview” button on any assessment to view it as a student.
Why This Update Is Important
This will help instructors understand how a test will look to students and reduce the potential for author errors. Instructors can also use preview mode to walk through an assessment with students in the classroom.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
- Parent sign ups for conferences will close at 8AM on Wednesday morning. Please be aware that parents have been invited to see teachers if the teachers do not have appointments.
- Conferences will run from 2:45-5:15PM and from 6-8PM.
- Near the balloon store, parents and guardians will pick up their student's grade report along with a map showing teacher locations for the evening.
- We will have a dinner break from 5:15-6PM. Dinner is lasagna - both meat and cheese options, salad, rolls, and dessert. We'll also have water and pop available.
- Teachers will be able to eat in the Faculty Dining Room and student workers will be able to eat in the Think Tank.
- Throughout the evening, NHS students will be circulating to bring water and snacks to teachers.
Spiritual Reflections
Bishop Barron
Below is an posting from Bishop Barron. I have included a link to his website at the end....Consider signing up for daily emails!
Friends, today’s Gospel centers on the intriguing figure of Joseph. Joseph is one of the most beloved of the saints, featured in countless works of art and prominent in the devotional lives of many.
We know almost nothing about him, yet some very powerful spiritual themes emerge in the accounts of Joseph. He had become betrothed to Mary, and this union had been blessed by God. And then he finds that his betrothed is pregnant.
This must have been an emotional maelstrom for him. And, at a deeper level, it is a spiritual crisis. What does God want him to do? Then the angel appears to him in a dream and tells him, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home.” He realizes at that moment that these puzzling events are part of a much greater plan of God’s. What appears to be a disaster from his perspective is meaningful from God’s perspective.
Joseph was willing to cooperate with the divine plan, though he in no way knew its contours or deepest purpose. Like Mary at the Annunciation, he trusted and let himself be led.
