A Message from Mrs. Caudill
It has been a wonderful start to the new year! Your children have done a wonderful job getting back into their routines. They have started January with positive attitudes and kindness towards others. Our Amerman Bobcats are something special!
Earlier this week, I sent out an email letting families know about a change with our front entry doors. As you are aware, one of the bond projects is a securer entrance at every building. While we have had a secure entry since the beginning of the school year, the work completed over winter break has allowed us to use the front entrance doors as they were originally designed.
We have already had so many positive comments about our updated entry. The main door to the school is unlocked from 8:00am – 4:00pm. You no longer need to buzz to gain entry into the front vestibule. However, the door that leads into the main office from the vestibule is closed and locked. You need to use the buzzer outside the main office to enter the office. The double doors that lead to the school from the main vestibule remains locked and secure as always.
The reason for this change was two-fold. Firstly, visitors are able to get out of the elements right away and not need to wait to be buzzed in. Secondly and most importantly, the large windows in the vestibule allow our staff a clear visual (compared to the camera on the outside door) who they are allowing to enter the main office. I appreciate your help in letting your emergency contacts aware of our new system.
Warmly,
Devon Caudill

School families and community members can learn more about Northville Public Schools’ March 2020 Sinking Fund Millage Replacement request at Community Forums/PTA meetings
On March 10, 2020, Northville Public Schools voters will be asked to consider replacing our current Sinking Fund millage with a new Sinking Fund millage that will extend the current .9519-mill levy from 2021 to 2025 and provide for broader uses of the proceeds, including instructional technology and security equipment. The current levy expires on Dec. 31, 2020. The .9519-mill five-year request is a REPLACEMENT of the existing sinking fund millage and would NOT result in an increase over the current millage rate.
If supported, the sinking fund millage will continue to provide approximately $3 million each year to fund building and site repairs, along with instructional technology and safety and security upgrades. This funding helps protect the community’s investment in the School District’s buildings and sites, while preserving General Fund dollars to accomplish the District’s core mission of instruction and student learning. Priority projects for the next five-year period fall into the categories of Instructional Technology & Security, Energy & Operational Efficiency, and Health & Safety.
Northville Public Schools families, staff and community members have the opportunity to learn more about the March 2020 Sinking Fund Millage Replacement request at a series of forums hosted by district leaders, including a number of opportunities scheduled in conjunction with school PTA/PTSA meetings in January and February, as follows:
The purpose of each forum is to provide parents, staff and community members with information about the sinking fund replacement millage proposal through a brief presentation (10-15 minutes), followed by an opportunity to ask questions about the proposal. Parents, staff and/or community members are invited to attend whichever forum is most convenient.
Community members are also encouraged to learn more about the millage election by visiting the District’s website at www.northvilleschools.org/2020sinkingfund/. Questions and/or comments may also be e-mailed to nps@northvilleschools.org.
