Garlic mustard {Alliaria petiolata}

Garlic mustard is a cool season biennial herb with triangular to hear-shaped leaves.

Leaves give off an odor of garlic when crushed. First -year plants appear as a rosette of leaves that remain green through winter.

The Garlic mustard is originally from Europe . Garlic mustard was introduced by the settlers for food and medicinal . It has spread across 27 states in the northeastern & Midwestern United States. It takes over an ecosystem and it outcompete native wildflowers and stunt the growth and reproductive ability of native trees such as the chestnut oak. They get rid of garlic mustard by cutting it .
