Blue Hills News
Dear Blue Hills Families,
It has been a great opening week here at Blue Hills! Enzo has been in the building, greeting students and faculty, and bringing smiles to faces.
Last night, we held a Grade 9 Parents Night, where we discussed our school culture, rules, and expectations for the school year. The presentation is available here.
Please review some important information below:
- Aspen X2 is used by Blue Hills to record student grades, attendance, discipline, family contact information, and much more. If you need assistance logging in to Aspen X2, you may follow this link. For further assistance, you may call the Academic Office at 781-828-5800 X2670.
- Breakfast and Lunch are available for free again this year. Through the first few days of school, we have noticed many students getting off the bus, waiting in line for breakfast, and immediately throwing it out or giving it away. This is not the intention of the free breakfast program, and those students will be asked to remain on the bus instead of coming into the cafeteria.
- Please be reminded: Earpods/headphones may not be worn during the school day except with the explicit permission of the teacher. This includes breakfast, lunch, and passing times. Earpods will be confiscated if seen, and consequences assigned.
- If you have not, please complete the SY 2022-2023 Mandatory Registration & Student Emergency/Contact Information on Family ID. This is required of all students each year, and includes the Parent-Student Handbook. This helps us keep your emergency contact information up to date in our system.
Important: Grade 9 Mini-Exploratory (9/9/22) and Exploratory Weeks
From Ms. Sylvia, Vocational Director:
All freshmen students participate in a mini exploratory twice during the year. The first mini exploratory is tomorrow, September 9, and at this time students rotate through 8 – 9 programs throughout the day. Teachers take the opportunity to discuss career options, working conditions, and what a day in the life of a student in their program may look like. Based on what students learn during the mini exploratory, students fill out a form to indicate which programs they would like to explore in depth during the term. This form will be handed in at the end of the day tomorrow. If your student is absent, it is imperative that you fill contact Ms. Titus at stitus@bluehills.org with the programs that are of interest to your student. Every effort is made to get a student to explore their top 2 choices. Students can log into X2 Sunday evening to see where they are scheduled to be on Monday, September 12 which is the very first exploratory week. The Exploratory Guide for Students and Families has a mandatory supply list for each program. Please spend some time reading this manual, and revisit it several times throughout the year.
Please stress to your student that they must try their hardest in each and every program in order to get the best grade possible. The grade they get in each exploratory is used for final placement. In the event of a tie, the overall average of all exploratory grades is used. This is very often the deciding factor for who gets their top choices. A student may not choose a program for their final placement if they did not explore the program. (Summer camp does NOT count as an exploratory as this is an ungraded activity)
Students are reminded that every time a freshman is in their exploratory program, they must wear pants and closed toed shoes. (Sneakers are okay, boots are better) Flip flops, crocs, open-toed shoes are not allowed.

Mr. Zini
