Growing Kind Hearts & Minds While Inspiring Personal Success
No School Friday, September 4, and Monday, September 7.
From the Principal
Dear Families,
We hope this letter finds you well energized, healthy, and ready for a wonderful school year. It is exciting to be able to have students in our classrooms again and virtually meeting with teachers. It was a long 6 months that none of us expected.
We are so impressed with our students despite all the new procedures! A few things we are doing to make sure safety is first:
- Our Teachers/Staff are wearing masks at all times.
- Teachers/Staff are using disinfectant spray between groups and breaks.
- Students and staff can use the hand sanitizing stations that are full and placed throughout the building.
- We are remaining as far apart in our cohort groups as we can.
A couple of things we want to remind all of you about:
- Please drop your child off from the drop off lane and they will enter the building from one of the 3 labeled entrances. If they are riding in on the bus, they will go directly to their classrooms.
- We will provide breakfast for every student this school year. They will get to eat it in their classroom every morning. This is a wonderful addition to our school day and will provide nourishment and brain food for all students.
- It is helpful to send an extra set of clothing for the first couple of weeks while your child adjusts to the changing schedule we have. They get engrossed in an activity and forget to use the bathroom. That will hopefully subside soon after they are back in the swing of things, but we would like to avoid embarrassing situations and if they have their own clothing it works better.
- Parent Pick Up is only in the drop off lane this year and you should have received a Pick Tick number unique to your child. The system is very efficient and precise. We have staff entering your car number into a computer that shows staff in the building when you have arrived for pick up. The students all exit one door with the help of several staff members. Also, the cameras will assist us with security at all times.
- With the uncertainty of the pandemic and the health and safety of our staff and students, we are meeting regularly to watch our health data. Thank you for filling out the necessary forms daily for health checks. It is helping us greatly. We hope it will get even more smooth now that the Kent County Health Department has created a Student Health Screener for our county.
- Our schedule this year has a couple of 1/2 days built in for staff professional development. Mark your calendars - Jan. 22 and March 12 will be 1/2 days of school for our students.
We hope that we are able to move beyond the phases so we can return to having parents in our buildings seeing the growth and learning that is continuously taking shape in our space. We can't thank you enough for trusting us to help in the teaching and learning aspects of your precious children. Thank you for your added patience as we navigate and your kind words of encouragement have meant a lot to our staff. We truly feel as though we are building the plane while flying it! BUT- I am surrounded with the most caring and compassionate staff who all wear capes and have superpowers! We will get through this together!

Student Health Screener
SC New Procedure for Entry Into the Building
- Please be sure to have completed your Student Health Screener (if your student is arriving late).
- Follow the directions on the outside of the front doors that direct you to fill out the Student Sign In/Student Sign Out form via your smartphone rather than using the public Chromebook.
- Parents that enter the lobby will need to fill out the Guest Screener Form (also on the door as a QR Code) or parents can fill the form out by the front doors, open the door for their student, and someone from the front office will let the student enter the building.
End of Day Plans
If plans change during the day, we ask that you please communicate with the office or your child's teacher by 2:15 p.m., so we are able to get passes to our students that need them.
Thank you for your help!
