Discovering a Little Piece of Arizona History!

My buddy Chris and I decided to do a little bow hunting over the weekend. We headed down to the wilderness area to the west of Young, AZ (about 2 hours from here). We took my ATV because the trails in that country are steep, muddy, and treacherous. We headed into the mountains between Roosevelt Lake and Young. It was beautiful country and very remote. After beating ourselves up on 30 miles of broken trail we came to a ridgetop that had a stone marker on it. It read, "Murdered here 12-22 1903, Wiley Berry and Juan Vigil". After we got back, I did a little research online and found an interesting article. You can read it HERE. What an interesting story! Although the deer hunting was very slow, we had a great time discovering a little piece of Arizona history. I hope you had a wonderful weekend too!
