Holiday Dress Up Days This Week!
Planning to attend our classroom parties?
Tigers May Ask YOU for this Week's Secret Code Word!
Each morning, we watch happy Tigers arrive to school ready to learn, and since this is such a joyful time of year, all of us are enjoying the even-more-than-usual-decorated classrooms and classroom neighborhoods. West Cypress Hills is full of holiday cheer.
Even though holiday time is nearing, it is still very important that Tigers attend school every day before we leave for break. With that thought in mind, we ask that you try to schedule appointments and holiday travel for days and times that fall within the holiday break. Our Tigers will be dismissed for winter break Friday, December 16 at 12:40 pm. Meanwhile, we plan to continue throughout this week to present instructional content that will be essential for success when Tigers return to school in January.
We have been making calls and sending notifications to remind families of the importance of attendance. It is our legal responsibility to ensure that the children in our community are attending school daily. Our students will be our future community leaders, and the pathway to leadership starts here at elementary school.
We are telling our Tigers that the first thirty (30) Tigers to tell either Mr. Boren or Mr. Ouellette this week's secret code word will win a reward. If your child(ren) ask(s) for the secret code word for this week, the secret code word for this week is: Fezziwig.

West Cypress Receives Grant from Lettuce Grow, Thanks to Mrs. April Stiles
Mrs. April Stiles, pictured above with her daughter (3rd Grade Tiger) Elle, is one of Lettuce Grow's top 1% growers. Thanks to her being such an active part of the Lettuce Grow growing community, she was honored with a free Farmstand that could be donated to a school, nonprofit, or community organization of her choice.
Fortunately for West Cypress Hills, Mrs. Stiles selected us to receive the grant for a free Farmstand and 24 seedlings. Thanks to Mrs. Stiles and Lettuce Grow, Tigers can watch our plants grow, watch the transformation from seedlings to large plants, learn about plants and plant care, and, later on, enjoy the fresh produce.
Lettuce Grow's mission is to help us learn to grow fresh, clean, unprocessed foods quickly and easily so that the food not only benefits our homes but also our global environment. The mission of Lettuce Grow "is to empower consumers to lead the transition to a sustainable food system."
Thank you, Lettuce Grow, Elle and Mrs. Stiles, for making our indoor Farmstand possible.
