Principal's Message
Dear West TV Families,
The work to remove trees and limbs at the school is finished and our playground and walking path re-opened this week - It's been wonderful for our students! The covered play area is still closed until it can be repaired. It will be repaired this summer.
Walking Path - Morning Arrival
This week on nice weather days we've had students supervised on the walking path in the mornings instead of the gym. We will continue using the walking path for the remainder of the school year on nice weather days. If you drop off your students by car, please continue to use both lanes to drop off your student - we will have a staff member safely crossing students that are dropped off in front of the gym. *Remember to have your students exit on the left side of the vehicle only when dropping off in front of the gym.
Yearbooks
Yearbooks are on sale now until April 19th! The 5th grade send off committee is purchasing each 5th grader a yearbook as a gift. Families with students in grades K-4 will need to purchase one. See the flyer below for more information.
Art Night
Art Night is next week on Wednesday, February 28th. Come enjoy 5 different fun art-making experiences inspired by diverse contemporary artists of New York City’s “Making Their Mark” exhibition! The fun begins at 6:00pm. We hope you can come! There is no cost to attend.
Kalapuya Mural
The students in grades K-3 have worked with our artist in residence - Mark Brody - on their portion of the mural. The students have done a wonderful job! You can see pictures below of the sections of the mural completed by the Kindergarten students "Magic Mountain" and the 1st grade students "Emblem". Students in grades 4 and 5 will work with the artist over the next 2 weeks.
Patterns in the Sky
The district videographer came to West TV to interview 2nd grade teachers and students as they prepared for their performance of "Patterns in the Sky". Be sure to check out the video below - it turned out so great! The video has been posted on the district webpage.

Read Across America Spirit Week at West TV
We will be having "Read Across America Spirit Week" at West TV from March 4-8. We feel that this is a great way to unite the school through books and a common love of reading. Read Across America is the nation's largest celebration of reading and was started by a group of educators back in 1998.
See the flyer below to find out what will be happening each day!

BSD Math Placement Testing for 5th Grade Families
About 9 out of 10 BSD students will be enrolled in “Math 6/7” for math next year. If you would like your student evaluated to determine whether “Math 7/8" or “Alg/Geo/Stats 1” would be appropriate instead, please see the BSD Math Placement Testing site to request testing.
All testing will take place in May at your student’s school during their school day. There will be no testing for current students after May. If you have any questions, please refer to the FAQ on the BSD Math Placement Testing site.

Last year's One School One Book was so much fun that we're doing it again this year! The entire West TV community will read the same book at the same time - our wonderful PTC will be purchasing the book for every West TV family . More information will be coming soon.
