End of Year Awards Ceremony:
Each classroom has been given a 30 minute slot in the gym for our classroom awards ceremony. We will meet in the gym at 2:15 on Thursday, May 20th. I will hand out awards and the students have a special song they want to sing for you. It will be so nice to end the year all together!
Testing
May is a busy month for us at school, and I am all to familiar with a busy schedule of after school activities. For my own two kids it seems like we have a practice, game, or something to do every week night. It's hard to fit in homework and dinner and still get to bed on time. Both second and third graders will be taking very important assessments this month, the Star Assessments (second and third), and End of Grade test (third grade). The best way for you to help your student do his or her very best on these tests is to make sure they have a calm, relaxing night before the test, eat a good meal before going to bed, and getting them up and fed a healthy breakfast before school on test day. It is important that student's know that these tests are important and that they should try their very best. It is also important that students don't feel overwhelmed with stress about any test. We will be focusing on showing off how much we've learned this year!
Classroom Notes and Reminders
Attestation Forms-
**IMPORTANT**
Before signing these forms each day, please be sure you have carefully read the whole form.
Thank you for completing this every morning!
Assignment Books-
Please check your child's assignment book each night and initial it. I check these each morning for signatures and special notes from you.
Reading Homework-
Reading with your child each night is one of the best ways you can help them grow as a reader. Even if your child prefers reading alone, asking them about what they read is a great way to check in on their comprehension skills. Please be sure your child is reading every night.
Math Homework-
After Christmas Break, we added a tiny bit of math homework for each night. Students will be practicing skip counting. The expectation is that they skip count aloud while an adult listens. If they make a mistake, tell them the correct number, and have them start at the beginning and try again.
