Did you enjoy it? We hope everyone had a great time!

In PreK-1 he read Creepy Pair of Underwear and talked about where he got the idea for the story and the idea of trying new things, even when it makes you a little nervous. We got a glimpse of Dude!, his new book that will be out in April.

In 2-3 he read Nerdy Birdy and talked about a person he knew when he was in school that didn't have very many friends and how he wished he would have been kinder and how he wrote this book to inspire others to be more welcoming. We were super excited to hear there would eventually be a chapter book series of Nerdy Birdy stories. We also played a fun game!

In 4-5 he talked about the writing and publishing process for Caveboy Dave and had some great actors play the part of artist, writer, and publisher.

We gave away several copies of his books in random drawings to students who drew pictures or answered simple trivia questions.

Second Grade Research

Does your student know how to log in to the databases on Launchpad? We based a lot of our research from there.

Some of the classes learned about famous people from history, others learned about places around our country, and others learned about Olympic sports.

Monthly Circulation

Circulations

From Feb 1-28 we circulated 3079 items. Go Hawk Readers!

Overdue Books

We do have 413 overdue books out right now so we're moving in the right direction but that's still a lot! This is mentioned that only because we want kids to be able to get NEW books often ... and can only do that if they're keeping track of the books they already have. We've also got kids waiting on books they can't read because they're sitting under a bed or couch somewhere!

If you're ever not sure you can contact the librarian about a student's account or login to Launchpad and go to the Destiny icon (ie the BLACK TREE link on the Library Resources) and find the materials listed there.

There is always the electronic library to add to reading possibilities!

Books into Movies

Ms. O FINALLY saw Wonder! Still waiting to see Ferdinand.

What did you think of A Wrinkle in Time?

With Electronic Library Resources Students Could ALWAYS Have FIVE EXTRA BOOKS!

Access to electronic resources has changed a bit this year. In order to access all digital resources students (Overdrive ebooks or audiobooks (awesome for travel), Pebblego early reader nonfiction reference, Tumblebooks, Encyclopedia Britannica reference sources, etc) will go to Launchpad. This can be accessed from the top right of the main NEISD page or from the library webpage.
