Week of March 16-20, 2020
A Note From Mrs. Garrison
I wanted to take a minute to connect with each of you and remind you that tonight our Superintendent, Dr. Null, will be speaking to us live on Facebook at 6:00pm through the Conroe ISD Facebook Page. Conroe ISD will also be distributing free meals this week to students who qualify for free and reduced lunch. More information is listed below.
The CISD Website has a page dedicated specifically to COVID-19. It contains a lot of good information. https://www.conroeisd.net/department/health-services/2019-novel-coronavirus/
One of the most useful things on the site is a Brain Pop that explains the virus to children. https://www.brainpop.com/health/diseasesinjuriesandconditions/coronavirus/
At this point, we are working on gathering online resources to share with you and hope to have that to you on Thursday.
In the meantime, don't forget that you can access Dreambox from home! Directions are included below. RAZ Kids, an online resource with hundreds of interactive leveled books, has free trials available at this time. https://www.raz-kids.com/ Our 1st - 3rd grade students already have school accounts established with your child's current reading level assigned. We encourage you to read to your children and have them read to you, a family member, or even a pet!

We miss you. Stay safe. I'll be in touch soon.

Pre K for the 2020-2021 School Year
Conroe ISD will be expanding all current half-day prekindergarten programs to full day in the 2020-21 school year. Currently, Houser and Houston Elementary Schools are the only campuses to operate full-day prekindergarten programs. The expansion is in response to the House Bill 3 requirement that all prekindergarten programs operate as full-day programs. Registration for the 2020-21 school year will take place April 20-24. Eligibility determination and enrollment will take place at the elementary school to which the student is zoned. Please visit www.conroeisd.net/ci/early-childhood/ for more information.
Powell Elementary School is committed to creating an environment that promotes academic excellence, and a love for learning. Our goal is to build relationships that empower students, and develop responsible, patriotic citizens, and confident leaders.
