Academy of the Arts at Bransom
February 20-23, 2018 (School Days 110-113)
A Note From Your Principal
Academy of the Arts Families,
I hope this note finds each of you ready for a super week of learning. As we begin the week, remember that it is the first week of the 5th 6-weeks grading period. It is a great time to encourage your child to do their best and stay focused on their studies. Everyday makes a difference in learning. It is important to come to school prepared for all it has to offer. What we put into our efforts will show in the end.
It is also the time of year to begin making preparations for next year, believe it or not. Last week, there was a letter sent home to allow each of you to reserve your child's spot at the Academy of the Arts at Bransom. If you did not return the letter, please do so as soon as possible. Many new students in our community have begun inquiring about spots that may be available for next year. In fact beginning in March, registration for next year is open to new students.
As we begin making plans for next year I want to remind families who are at the Academy of the Arts through the School of Choice option, your current student does not need to register. However, if you have another child that you would like to attend, they must go through the registration process. This is our way to track all new School of Choice students.
This time of year is a busy time for all Schools of Choice. This is true for elementary school, middle schools and even high schools. STEAM Middle School is offering a night for 5th grade parents to learn more about their unique programs. Tuesday, February 20 from 5:00-6:00 is a perfect time to join other parents from across the community to get more informed.
Potential new parents interested in learning more about our unique offerings are invited to join us this Thursday evening from 6:00 to 7:00. Please spread the word to those you would love to see join our Academy of the Arts at Bransom family.
I want to ask you to take a look at the events on our calendar. It is very important to stay a step ahead of the game. It is that time of year when everyone's calendar is getting full and we do not want you to miss one single thing. Remember to check the website often in case dates change or new items are added between newsletters.
In closing, I want to assure each parent that we are looking at procedures and protocols to keep the students of our school as safe as possible. We appreciate the encouragement you give your child to always be aware of their surroundings as well as respectful of their teachers as they truly put your child's safety at the top of their "List of Things to Protect."
Thanks again for ALL you do,
Mrs. Burchfield

Drop Off in the Morning
When dropping off your child in the morning, you have the option of driving through the front drive to the front door. Another option is to walk your child to the front door. Finally, you may park in a parking spot and then walk your child to the nearest sidewalk. Please do not drop your child off in the back or front parking lots and allow them to walk through the lot alone. There are many vehicles driving through these lots and your child's safety is too important to neglect supervision. Also, if you are parked in a parking space, you will not be blocking buses, Day Care vans, Food Services trucks or others trying to park. Thanks for assisting us in making everyone safe during this busy time of day.
Standard Dress Expectations
Just as a reminder, students are asked not to wear "out of uniform outer wear" in the classroom. However, they are free to wear a uniform sweatshirt or solid colored (red, white, blue, or black) sweater or jacket in the classroom. Please make sure that these jackets are free of logos. Thank you for supporting the district determined dress code.
