Teacher Spotlight: Kara Manning
This week's Teacher Spotlight is Mrs. Kara Manning. She grew up in Harrisonville, Missouri and went to college at the University of Kansas. Mrs. Manning is married to JD Manning and they have three children together, Kade who is 18, Colton 15, and Brynn age 13. Here at CCA Mrs. Manning teaches 7th and 8th grade History and 7th grade Spelling and Bible. She is also the sponsor for CCA Student Council and is full of fun and has great ideas for the students! Her favorite Bible verse is Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Mrs. Manning has 2 horses, 1 miniature donkey, 2 dogs, and a whole bunch of cats. During her spare time Mrs. Manning loves spending time with her family and friends, watching and playing sports, and reading.
In high school Mrs. Manning played volleyball, basketball, tennis, and softball, and she loves watching sports. When asked who she looks up to the most she said she looks up to her husband JD. If you ever need to find Mrs. Manning you can most likely find her cheering her kids on at all CCA sporting events!

Pastor Craig asked, "Why do we respect people?" Students answered, it makes God happy, we respect others to have them respect us back, and it's how we obey God. In Genesis 1:26-27 we find out that God made us in His image. Every one of us reflects an image of God. We reflect that image through a fragment of His infinite justice. Our personality, cares, hurts and heart are part of the image that God gave us. We should reflect Him.
Luke 5:12-16 tells about the leper that Jesus healed. The leper fell on his face and begged Jesus to heal him. The leper was desperate; he had lost everything because of his illness and he knew Jesus could give his life back to him. The leper was made in the image of God, but people did not respect him.
Jesus loves all people. We are made in His image. He shows us unconditional love through dying on the cross. Do we all claim to love and respect God? If so, keep doing it. Love others like you love yourself. We all deserve to get and have unconditional respect for each other because we are made in the image of God. If not, get right with God, ask Him to help you know Him, ask for forgiveness and learn to love others because Jesus made you in His image and He is love!

State Tournament
Last week, the Varisty Volleyball and Soccer teams traveled to Joplin to play in the State Tournament. The Soccer team played early Thursday and lost 1-3. The Volleyball team played later that night. They played three games and won seven of the eight sets. On Friday, the soccer team won and went on to play for fifth place. The Volleyball team played two games and won both. The second game was an intense game against Ft. Scott and went into three sets. The team advanced into the State Championship game. This is the first time that this has happened in CCA history. Saturday, the Soccer team played against Eagle Ridge for Consolation and won. The Volleyball team also played Eagle Ridge for the State Championship. They lost in the first set but won the second, so it went into a third set to 25. In the third set, they lost by 25-22. Congratulations, Patriots!
Powderpuff Volleyball
Last Monday, the Varsity Volleyball team played the Varsity Soccer team in a game of Volleyball. They played three sets with the Varsity teams and the girls won all of them. During halftime, the teams played musical chairs. Audrey won after an intense round. After the halftime game, they played a JV game. The JV Volleyball team won in two sets. This was a great fundraiser for the High School Winter Formal. Some videos from this game are on the CCA Facebook page. Congratulations, ladies!
