CVSD School-Based Early Education Program Peer Lottery Application
The CVSD School-based Early Education Programs are now accepting applications for a random peer lottery drawing for the 2019-20 school year. Our preschools are 5 STAR licensed early education programs that provide play-based, developmentally appropriate environments for all children. Our curriculum is based on the Vermont Early Learning Standards (VELS) and Teaching Strategies Gold. We believe that a diverse classroom offers opportunities for adults and children to practice acceptance and compassion and also provides a broad range of learning experiences.
Our programs follow the CVSD school calendar. Peers who will be age 3 or older by September 1, 2019, but not yet 5 years old, are eligible to enter the lottery for our programs.
All applications must be received by February 8, 2019. Students will be selected via a lottery. Please send the applications to Candi LaFreniere @ clafreniere@cvsdvt.org. Please contact Julia Wayne at 802-482-6236 or e-mail jwayne@cvsdvt.org with questions.

7th Annual GSA Conference Highlights
Three HCS student representatives and two adult advisors from HCS GLOW & Rainbow Spirits attended the Outright VT Gender and Sexuality Alliance Conference in Hyde Park, VT. Sixth graders Evie Hunter, Charlie Garavelli and 8th grader Elliot Murray-Gurney enthusiastically and ably represented HCS. The students were accompanied by two of the groups advisors Chris Nial and Lynn Camara. At the conference students were able to connect with their peers, make new friends, develop new skills, and to share the important ways they are all making their schools more informed and inclusive.
Over 150 students and 25 advisors from 34 middle and high schools gathered for the 7th Annual GSA Conference. It was the biggest GSA Conference Vermont has ever held. Outright VT celebrated today's gathering sharing that today's event sends a clear message that LGBTQ youth and allies are in every corner of Vermont and ready to change the whole world, one school at a time. "When you step back and look at it, we created a really strong community today of LGBTQ youth," said Hunter.
Christine Hallquist, former Vermont gubernatorial candidate and the first trans woman to run for Governor in the US, was the keynote speaker. She shared her life story in a deeply moving and meaningful way that had a profound effect on all in attendance. Murray-Gurney shared "The speaker was really inspiring and I'm glad she shared her story with us."
