The Holidays
Happy Holidays! This is a very busy time of year for families and schools alike. Take time to talk with your children about the traditions of your family. More importantly, take time to be together as a family and enjoy your children at this magical time of year.
The month of November was full of excitement at Summit Middle School. It was full of activities such as the Veteran's Day Assembly, the field trip, and the Lip Sync Battle. There was a lot of learning, as well as fun taking place in our building. In December, we are doing mid-year testing to see just how much our students have learned. Your student(s) will be taking their Benchmark tests December 14-18.
Continue to read with your child every night to help them prepare to do their best. This includes over the holiday break. Set aside at least 30 minutes a day for family reading time. Reading over the break will help them retain skills that they have learned during the school year.
Thank you for sharing your students with us each day!

McGee's Memos
This semester has flown by! The sixth graders have done an excellent job of becoming productive middle schoolers. They are becoming more independent and are growing physically, academically, and emotionally. I am very proud of each of them and am looking forward to the spring semester. Until then, we have three weeks of school and a continued focus on teaching and learning!
Upcoming Benchmark Exams: If your student will not be here to take exams on one of these dates, please make arrangements with your child's teacher for him/her to take the exam at an earlier date.
