School of Saint Mary FYI

April 1, 2022

Notes from Mrs. Maricle

1. Changes in Staff for 2022-23 School Year: It is official that we are saying farewell to the following staff members.

After 13 years at SOSM, Susan Lang (7th Grade) and Venus Trantham (Aide) will be retiring at the end of the school year. We hope both of these wonderful ladies are abundantly blessed in their future endevours.

Mr. Alan Bryan (MS Theology) has served the SOSM for 13 years, but is now ready to take on a new role at the Church of Saint Mary. We are thankful that we will still get to see him around campus.

Mrs. Julie Davis (MS Science) has decided to stay home with her little ones. She has been with us a short time but she will be greatly missed!

We are extremely thankful for Mrs. Lang, Mrs. Trantham, Mr. Bryan and Mrs. Davis and their service and commitment to the School of Saint Mary. Stay tuned for details on a good-bye gathering!

2. Donations in Honor of Ms. Clements: Many have asked about where to make a donation. We are asking that if you feel to give in Maureen's honor, please make your gift to the St. Francis of Assisi Fund or Catholic Charities.

3. Cafeteria Help: Please check out the sign-up. It is very sparse for the coming weeks.

FINANCIAL AID for the 2022-23 SCHOOL YEAR

We are currently receiving financial aid applications for the 2022-2023 school year. This application is for aid from St. Francis of Assisi Fund (Catholics Only) and Veritas SGO (Anyone may apply). If you want to be considered for aid from GO for Catholic Schools SGO (Anyone may apply), you must select them under institutions on the first page and add them to your application so the information is forwarded to them.

Please know that only applications that are COMPLETE (by applicant AND FACTS verification) by April 15 will be considered.

To have a complete application, ALL tax documents, including ALL schedules and additional forms must be uploaded to the FACTS system. If documents are missing, FACTS sends friendly and helpful reminders to applicants to complete their applications. These are auto generated to help everyone complete their applications timely.

If documents are missing after April 15, the application will be considered incomplete, even if the application was started prior to the deadline and the applicant will not be eligible for financial aid.

Families may begin their applications at any time after January 1.

Note: Remember it takes approximately 10 days to 2 weeks for FACTS to verify each application, therefore beginning the application process on April 15 is not enough time for FACTS to verify a complete application. We HIGHLY suggest that you have your application submitted by April 1st to give yourself time for the verification process.

Cafeteria Volunteers

Reminder...Just a reminder that the hour requirement is PER SEMESTER. All families are asked to work 10 hours in the fall and 10 hours in the spring. Incomplete hours for the fall have been billed already and incomplete hours for the spring will be billed in June. At the end of each semester, those who were unable to serve the full 10 hours for whatever reason will be invoiced at $15 per missing hour.

Parish-School News

  • Catechesis of the Good Shepherd:We're very excited to announce that the Church of St. Mary Catechesis of the Good Shepherd will be growing in the Fall of 2022! We will be offering Level 1 (ages 3-6), Level 2 (ages 6-9), and Level 3 (ages 9-12). This Montessori-based approach fosters a child’s relationship with God through the Scripture and Liturgy. The ultimate purpose of CGS is to help a child “fall in love with God.” We are currently in the process of creating our schedule for the 2022-2023 school year. We would like to accommodate the best we can to your schedules. If you are interested in having your child(ren) in the program or know someone who is, please contact Christine Hassink at chassink@churchofsaintmary.com for a student schedule survey. Thank you!

  • Camp Rother registration is now open! We are excited to offer more weeks of camp this summer for grades 4-12! Camp Rother will be hosted at Sequoyah State Park & Lake Wister Group Camps. Website: https://dioceseoftulsayouth.org/camp-rother

The Diocese of Tulsa will be leading a group of young adults, ages 18-35 years by July 2023, for an unforgettable experience and encounter with the universal Church July 25-August 7, 2023.
