Principal's Message

November 1, 2019

Hello Willink Families,

A busy week here at Willink saw students expressing the messages of healthy and drug-free lifestyles by participating in Red Ribbon themes. Along with red ribbon week came the excitement of Halloween, Dia De Los Muertos and a fun PTSA event this morning - Pastries with Parents for our 6th grade families. (7th and 8th grade dates are 11/15 and 11/22, respectively).

Next week is a signature experience for our 8th grade students who will be attending either the Washington, D.C. trip or the Rochester trip. There will be no changes in schedule for our 6th and 7th graders but please note that the first marking period comes to an end for all students next Friday, 11/8. There will also be no school for students on Monday, 11/11 as we observe the Veteran’s Day holiday.

I’m excited to join Mr. Simoni and many of our teachers and students on the DC trip next week, so I will likely postpone my next newsletter until 11/15.

As we complete the first quarter of the school year, I hope Willink students and families are enjoying a learning and growing experience in our school. As we continue to experience learning with emphasis on meeting and exceeding standards through a curiosity-driven lens, I also hope we are helping students grow in all aspects of their lives. With an election week in front of us, I would encourage you to talk with your children about the current events that influence our daily lives. Whether it is our democratic system, the challenges of the digital world, or the ups and downs of adolescence, these conversations help our young learners grow both inside and outside the classroom.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Student/Parent Portal

The student/parent portal is an excellent way to monitor your child's progress. As always, please email your child’s teacher with specific questions related to classroom performance. If you have behavioral or social-emotional concerns, your child’s counselor would be the first point of contact. Again, working together we can help your child grow!
