Parent Breakfast on December 3, 2015 at 8:30AM. Featured speaker is college planner David Altshuler. Mr. Altschuler helps students and their families choose and apply to colleges, universities and traditional boarding schools as well as boarding schools for students who learn differently and for students who have emotional needs. He has been empowering students and helping them make good decisions. His books, Raising Healthy Kids in an Unhealthy World, and Love the Kid You Get. Flamenco Dancing
Everyone who attended experienced great food and traditional Flamenco dancing.
Paella
Richard and his dad decided to indulge in a traditional and delicious Spanish dish, seafood paella.
Middle School Math
Nikko is following the beat. By listening to the beats and the rhythm in songs, the students are learning how to add all the fractions together in each measure of music.
Middle School Science
Domingo is color-coding his plant-cell graphic organizer. This week we are working on our 3-D clay plant-cell models. Students will learn functions of plant-cell parts while practicing organization skills and memory games to remember the name and purpose of each part.

Stephanie uses colorful clay to create a 3-D model of a plant cell. While doing this, students reviewed plant-cell functions and presented their models.

Kai is learning a technique to break down a three-dimensional figure into its geometric components, in order to fully understand its structure.
Freshman Geometry
Students will be exploring quadrilaterals and using their properties to determine which shapes are best for building their own medieval castles. Here Richard is creating his graphic organizer of different types of quadrilaterals and their properties.
Freshman Physics
A trajectory or flight path is the path that a moving object follows through space as a function of time. The object might be a projectile or a satellite. Physics class is investigating the trajectory of our catapulted objects and the effect their mass has on their trajectories.
Freshman English I
Students made a stack of pancakes representing Dante's nine circles of Hell. Pictured is the fifth circle, in which the souls of those guilty of crimes of wrath swim in a boiling lake of blood. Moderns were adjudged by the students and consigned to their appropriate circles. Mmm, smell that? Hypocrites comin' right up!
Freshman Latin I
Playwrights pen a Roman-style whodunnit about the pecunia purloined from the dominus's pile.

Were the Dark Ages really dark? Let's take a look at our time capsules and see some of the advancements that came out of the darkness into the light!
Adrian "The Bearded Beekeeper"
A local beekeeper and conservationist visited CPS to teach us about the nature of bees and their importance to the environment, and about how a beekeeper maintains a hive.
Freshman Math Art
Braeden, Matthew, Richard, Kaitlyn, and Alice work together to form three-dimensional quadrilaterals to use as a base for building their medieval castle. Can't wait to see this geometric masterpiece come to life!
Freshman Pre Algebra
Kaitlyn and Alice are having fun creating their own number line to use while solving their equations. Students wrapped up proportions this week. They will move into reviewing negative numbers and number line concepts to prepare for equations.
High School English III
Students rewrote a modern-day witch-hunt, working as a group. We also continue to read the show and everyone is " playing a role." Research is being done, papers are being written, and creativity is flowing.
High School Math for College Readiness
Linear programming is a problem solving technique for maximizing and minimizing situations. Yakira and Ryan Landy are finding regions of feasibility for the solution by solving a system of linear inequalities.
High School Algebra II
Khan Academy videos are being used to help clarify steps for solving systems of equations algebraically. Diana is taking notes while viewing to help her understand correct methodology .
High School US History
The representatives from the Colony of Massachusetts reading Thomas Paine's Common Sense - seeking answers to the question of whether we should separate from England.

High School Environmental Biology
UNITED NATIONS -- "Earth's human population is expected to coast upward to 9.6 billion by 2050 and 10.9 billion by 2100, up from 7.2 billion people alive today," a United Nations agency has projected. The Environmental Biology class is exploring what this means to the planet and its inhabitants.
