FISD Early Childhood School
Where the Adventure Begins...
Happy Friday!
Dear Parents,
ONE AND DONE! Our fundraiser is doing so great! Thank you so much to those that have already turned in your donations. We are asking for each family to make a one time donation to our school. You can send in cash or check in whatever amount you feel led to donate. We will use all the money toward materials for our classrooms that students will use directly. This will help us purchase books, manipulatives, toys that support motor development and social skills, and other classroom resources that will maximize learning. This is our once a year fundraiser so please consider making a donation to support ECS! Once the fundraiser ends, we will be sharing the total amount collected and exactly how that money is being spent. We want to be good stewards of your generosity! If you ever have ideas on materials or ways we can use funds to enhance our school, please check out the Parent Feedback section below to see how you can submit your ideas.
I wanted to give a huge SHOUT OUT and THANK YOU to our wonderful Phyllis Jenkins and Cathy Young from our library and all the volunteers who helped run a very successful fall book fair! It is always such a fun week that the kids love. I know it takes a lot of hard work to pull it off and we appreciate everyone who was involved!!
Thanksgiving is just around the corner! Many parents have asked me for ideas on how to express their thanks to their child's teacher, so I thought it might be helpful to share with everyone! Special notes of thanks are always appreciated and something that is always treasured. I still have notes that parents and students wrote me from my very first year of teaching way back in the mid 1990's! I love reading through them all from time to time to think about all the sweet people that I have been blessed to know and serve. Another fun way to express thanks that teachers love is through gift cards to any place that you know your child's teacher enjoys. I'd also like to provide the opportunity for you to make a $10 gift card donation to our campus. I'd like to be able to have a raffle for our teachers the Friday before our Thanksgiving Break to remind them of how much our families and I appreciate their hard work and the love they pour into all that they do for our sweet children! If you would like to contribute to that, just send in the gift card(s) in a sealed envelope and put "ECS Front Office" on the outside. I'll collect those for our raffle! Please understand, there is no obligation!
As I encounter times that I am asked, "What do you do for work?" I always feel a twinge of guilt in answering! Having the opportunity to come to our Early Childhood School every day to spend time with the most dedicated teaching professionals I've ever worked with, being able to spend time watching the absolute cutest children on the planet learn and grow, getting to hug and love on them each and every day, and having the opportunity to serve and support each of your families just does NOT feel like work. I feel that I fall in a very small category of fortunate individuals that get to live out their passion each and every day doing what they love. Thank you for blessing my life in such an abundant way!

Shoot for 7:20 and 11:20!
Just a reminder to our morning session parents, school starts at 7:40 which means students should be in class by that time. In order to have your child in the building on time, please make sure you are in our car lines no later than 7:35. We begin taking children at 7:20 and 11:20 and often there are not many cars in line yet! By coming a few minutes earlier, it would get you in and out of line much faster and help us make sure we start instruction on time!
Cones will be put out at 7:40 sharp, which means you will need to park in a parking spot in front of the school and walk your child in at that time. It's always better to be a little early so our children aren't rushing in at the last minute. We also want to be sure we get a full 3 hours of instruction with our young learners to maximize their time with us. Thank you for your efforts in scooting up your morning routines by 5-10 minutes to support your child's progress! We certainly appreciate it!
Cooler Weather!
We love the cooler weather as it affords us great teachable moments with your children to develop their independence in zipping, buttoning, and being responsible for taking care of their things! We hope you support us in those efforts.
This also means our students are coming with more gear! Please make sure your child has appropriate clothing for playing outside and that their name is in everything. Also, make sure the change of clothes you send for your child is appropriate for the weather. I know many send an outfit at the beginning of the year to stay here, so you may need to switch that out soon.
I want to hear from YOU!
Hey ECS Parents! I've created a new forum called The ECS Parent Place! As your child's principal, I want to make sure I keep open lines of communication with all of you! I'm hoping this will turn into a great forum where you can post questions, feedback, and praise so that I can stay better connected with you and your perspectives. I look forward to hearing from you! Just click this link and then look for the hot pink circle with the plus sign. Click on that and you're on your way! I'll keep an eye out so I can respond to your posts. Thanks!
