Stem Cuttings

  • Sharp knife
  • Rooting gel
  • Soilless potting mix
  • Bright light


  1. Cut the stem with a sharp knife at a 45 degree angle. The cutting should be about 3-6 inches long.
  2. Remove the bottom set of leaves and dip the end into rooting gel.
  3. Place the cutting into a small pot of vermiculite, perlite, or other soilless potting mix.
  4. Poke a small hole in the growing medium before placing the cutting into it.
  5. Keep your new plant in warm and bright light so that it can start developing roots.
