Team Columbia
Average is OFFICIALLY over!
It is April!!
Team Columbia:
It is officially April and the school year is winding down. However, this is not the time to rest on our laurels. This is the time that we should be vigilant and to stay the course to ensure we are providing good instruction. Reiterate to your students our basic school expectations and your classroom expectations. This nine weeks need to count.
Have a great week of teaching and learning!
School Site Staff Position Sheet
Thanks - Mr. Porter
TAKE ATTENDANCE DAILY IN EACH CLASS PERIOD IN INOW!!
Many of you are not taking attendance all day. It is the school-wide procedure and expectation to take attendance in each class every day within the first ten (10) minutes of class. Make it your practice to give a bellringer everyday so that you can complete this task. This is not optional but a requirement.
Please adhere to this directive.
-Mr. Porter
Calling in Sick or Taking Off
This will be my last time reiterating this directive. If you are taking off, you must call or text an administrator:
- Mr. Porter - 334-294-8596
- Mrs. Williams - 254-449-1999
- Mr. Hayden - 256-426-4381
- Mr. Jernigan - 256-651-7095
It is not enough to just put a sub in role call. You must also alert an administrator of your absence. We are having too many instances where teachers are out and either the sub does not show up or the position does not post in role call, thus resulting in unattended students. It is imperative that you call or text an administrator. Failure to alert administration of your leave will result in disciplinary action going forward. This has been the policy since our first faculty meeting this year. Please adhere to this policy.

District Student Surveys
This year, the survey process has been streamlined and will be less time consuming than in prior years.
There are only 3 surveys this year, and each survey should only take 5 minutes to complete.
- Students in grades 5 – 12 will take a school climate survey, which will ask the student about their relationships with teachers, the expectations at his/her school, and school safety.
- Students in grades 5 – 12 will also take an advanced course survey, which will ask the student about his/her perceptions of advanced courses.
- Any grade 5 - 12 M2M students will take an M2M survey, which will ask the student about his/her M2M experience.
These surveys are required as part of the consent order, and we appreciate your help.
Students will need to use their laptops to access the survey website, and then need to enter their SSIDs in order to log in and take their surveys.
Student ID Badges Coming to All HCS High Schools
Before the badges are issued, students will be made aware of the expectations with the badges.
