Mylan Park Elementary Newsletter
January 2022
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Happy New Year! I would like to extend well wishes to all for a happy and healthy new year.
❄️Just a reminder that as the snow starts to fly in Morgantown, children need to be dressed appropriately to come to school. Coats, hats, mittens/gloves and boots are a must, especially on those cold and blustery days. Also remember to tune into your local television and radio stations, and the Monongalia County website for up-to-the minute school closings, delays or Arctic Academy days.
⏰When school is delayed, parents should not drop their children off prior to the delayed time for arrival which is 10:30 A.M. Remember, there is no breakfast served on a delay. If school is cancelled due to extreme cold and an Arctic Academy Day is called, students will need to complete the Arctic Academy assignments.
💻On an Arctic Academy Day, students Kindergarten-5th Grade will have a Choice Board of activities to complete for the day on their Chromebook. This choice board can be accessed digitally through our e-Learning site by clicking on "select a grade." A new board for each grade level will post on the site for each new Arctic Day.
📱Please be certain we have your most current information and that you are receiving School Messenger phone calls, texts or emails.
✏️Teachers and students will be taking time to perform mid-year assessments. These assessments guide us in making instructional decisions to best meet the needs of our students academically. You can continue to support your child by reviewing completed work, encourage reading, have a conversation with your child on what they are learning at school.
😷If your student is on quarantine we have many resources to offer. Our related arts has wonderful activities posted on our e-learning site weekly! Students also have access to content based instruction through i-Ready, Reflex Math, MyOn and much more. You can find these resources on our webpage under "Students."
January is a month of reflections and new beginnings. Celebrate learning, reflect on the growth and begin to imagine how far we can go when we set our expectations high and plan a path to reach them. The Mylan Park community would like to wish everyone good health and happiness in the New Year.
