Prom Information
Junior year is a very exciting time for our students but can be very costly. Our Junior Prom is planned for May 19th at the Ellora. Over the past few years the cost per student for Junior Prom has been approximately $95, with payment due in March. Now is a great time to start planning and budgeting for this memorable event.
12th Grade Info
Senior year is a very exciting time for our students but can be very costly. Our Senior Prom is planned for June 2nd at the Grand Marquis. Over the past few years the cost per student for Senior Prom has been approximately $120 the past few years, with payment due in April. Now is a great time to start planning and budgeting for this memorable event.
Guidelines for Halloween
School Picture Retake Day
The picture make/up retakes session is scheduled for November 3rd. In order to retake pictures, students must return their picture packets. Picture ordering forms for make/ups are located by the main reception area or online at www.lorsstudio.com and click on undergrad online prepay. Our log in code is 18-19SB.
2018 Yearbooks on Sale NOW
Get in while the price is at its lowest of the year! 2018 yearbooks are currently on sale through pre-order at www.balfour.com for the price of $80. Only pre-ordered books will be guaranteed and books WILL NOT be available in June for purchase. Log in today to secure your child's 2018 yearbook.
ADVANCED PLACEMENT COURSES- Pay to Participate
Please be advised that students in Advanced Placement courses MUST pay a $50.00 registration fee per course to meet the Pay to Participate requirement. The period for registration is October 15, 2017 – November 15, 2017. The registration fee is applied to the cost of Advanced Placement course materials and training for teachers. Keep in mind that the $50.00 course registration fee is separate from the AP Exam Ordering fee.
To complete the registration requirement for an Advanced Placement course, please log onto the South Brunswick High School Website. Under “Quick Links,” please select the “Pay to Participate Registration Information.” Select “ONLINE PAYMENTS - Click Here to register for all Pay to Participate and Community Education Programs.” (Instructions for online payments are available below this link on the website.)

VIKING ATHLETIC CLUB MEETING (The 2nd Tuesday of Every Month)
The next Viking Athletic Club meeting is Tuesday, November 14th 7PM in the Faculty Dining Room. Parents please join us.
The Viking Athletic Club has subscribed to a software based program know as CORECOURSE.
CoreCourseGPA.com, a web-based software program is available to all South Brunswick High School student-athletes and their parents/guardians free of charge. If your child has aspirations of competing athletically as a freshman at an NCAA Division I or Division II school, they must meet NCAA Initial-Eligibility minimum standards, including minimum core course GPA and SAT/ACT test score requirements. CoreCourseGPA.com is an innovative tool that allows you to easily track your son or daughter’s progress towards meeting these requirements, beginning as soon as the first semester of their freshman year.
IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT YOUR USE OF CORECOURSEGPA.COM IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR
REGISTERING WITH THE NCAA ELIGIBILITY CENTER AFTER THE COMPLETION OF SIX HIGH SCHOOL SEMESTERS
Please go to the high school athletic website and under the title of NCAA INFORMATION AND CLICK ON CORECOURSE . It will link you directly to the website and provide you with the log on ID and Passwords to access this program.
REMINDER – Physicals are due for winter sports by October 21st - Physicals can be downloaded at: http://www.sbschools.org/schools/sbhs/athletics/physicals.php (If you have already done a fall sport, you still are required to hand in certain forms.)

VIKING ATHLETIC CLUB – 5K AND 1 MILE FUN RUN- Major Fundraiser
RUN with the VIKINGS 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run - Walkers are welcome
Sunday, November 5th, 2017 – Rain or Shine. The 1 Mile Fun Run begins at 9:30 AM,
the 5k Run begins at 10:00 AM, and the Kiddie Dash begins at 11:00am. Join us for a great day!

HURRICANE MARIA RELIEF DRIVE: 10/21 at Crossroads South Middle School – 195 Major Road
Supplies needed: Bottled water, tarps, home repair kits, cleanup kits, ready-to-eat meals, non-perishable foods, trash bags, insect repellant, hand sanitizer, work gloves, extension cords, baby wipes, diapers, baby formula, pain relief medication for adults and children, canned milk, stomach relief and diarrhea medication, blankets, pillows and towels. Thank you in advance for your consideration!
PTO News...
SBHS PTO Shoe Drive
The PTO is collecting gently worn, used and new shoes.Not only do you help us but the shoes are then used to help start micro-enterprises in developing nations like Haiti. It’s a double donation!
Collection bins are located in the High School front entrance and gym as well as the South Brunswick Public Library across from their cafe. Collection ends December 31st. Please spread the word!
PTO Membership dues are $15 per family. Membership allows your child to be eligible for a $500 PTO scholarship their Senior year. To be eligible you have to be a paid PTO member by December 31st of each of the years your child attended SBHS.

Domestic Violence Awareness Walk, October 29th @ 2:00 p.m.
Black and Gold Friday
Have your child show Viking Spirit EVERY Friday by wearing Black and Gold! This is a great way for Staff and Students to participate.

All club information is being updated as it is received, with most clubs starting to meet late September/Early October
Club Reminder-Pay to Participate Information
The club participation fee is $25.00. Students should not pay to participate until they are absolutely certain they will be joining the club. Please attend AT LEAST one meeting AND confirm that there are no scheduling conflicts with the clubs you are interested in. All students must go through the Pay to Participate process even if they have met the family maximum or are exempt from paying because they qualify for the free or reduced lunch program. Payments are not transferable, refundable or retroactive. Once a payment is made, PRINT A RECEIPT for your records AND to submit to your advisors.
Club Advsiors will be verifying club payment in January. Students who fail to submit payment receipts will not be permitted to continue to attend or participate and the activity will not be recorded on their transcript. Viking Closet
Viking Closet has all your back to school needs. This year we started collecting personal hygiene items, such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs, brushes, deodorant, tooth "picks", hair bands, etc. The Closet is open in C300 during lunches or hap & everything is FREE!
Support Puerto Rico
SBHS is collecting baby supplies for victims of Puerto Rico. Donations of wipes, diapers, food, etc. can be dropped off in Room 318. For questions please see Ms. Dowd.
Zumbathon
Want to dance to some great music while getting in a fun workout? Come to Zumbathon! October 27th in the Freshmen Cafe @ 2:30. Tickets are $5---questions? See Sra. Arango/Sra. Alonso/Sra. Ryan.
Powderpuff
Interested in playing in Powderpuff? Packets to play, coach, or be a part of the Spirit Squad are available. Packets are due 10/24 by 2:40PM in the Activities Office. Game day is November 18th (alt. Date: November 16th). Packets can be found in the Activities Office.
SBHS Stands Against Bullying
10/23 to 10/27 Student Council and GSA want to Unite SBHS Against Bullying. Throughout the week both groups will be advertising and encouraging SBHS to stand together to stop bullying. On October 27th we will invite all students to “Stand By A Statement” in the cafeteria by signing a wall of statements to unite us. Please wear BLUE on that Friday as well, the National Bullying Awareness color, to show your support for this continuous movement.
