Points of Pride (Week of Nov. 5)

Alief ISD News and Recognitions

Alief ISD has been named a Top Workplace for the third consecutive year by Houston Chronicle.

This marks the third year in a row that Alief ISD has made the top 25 top workplaces from more than 150 large companies or organizations in the Houston area.

Thank you to our 6,500 employees for making Alief ISD the best place to work.

Hastings High School graduate Simon Silva won first place in the Sports Action Photo category in the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) 2018 Photo of the Year Contest.

Silva, who graduated last school year, was recognized for outstanding photojournalism in a national competition. The recognition was announced at the National High School Journalism Convention.

Boone Elementary School teacher Fiorela Corzo and her class's Red Ribbon Decorations are finalists in the National Red Ribbon Photo Contest.

If the class wins with the most votes in Region 4, Corzo will receive an iPad, and Boone will win $1,000 to support drug prevention initiatives. To vote:

  1. Visit this link.
  2. The first time you vote, you will be asked to enter your email address. You will receive an email with a link to confirm your email address. This confirmation only needs to be completed once.
  3. After the confirmation, you can vote once per day. The last day to vote is next Friday, November 16.

Congratulations to the following Alief ISD staff members, whose DonorsChoose.org projects were funded!
