Hello FUSD Staff and Community,

While no school year has ever been the same as any before, each of the past few years has presented distinct and unique challenges and opportunities, with little of the expectations of the past to rely on. Now, in our second year back to in-person learning, we are seeing more of the traditional mixed in with the new: fall sports, Homecoming and outstanding instruction – with optional face coverings and COVID-19 testing available. And, after a pandemic-related break, we are again receiving state academic test scores to help inform our instruction and interventions, more on that below.


Not all traditions and expectations of the past should continue to guide us moving forward. To that end, FUSD continually undertakes efforts to examine our practices and improve. You’ll find an invitation below to participate in a survey designed to help us strengthen our communication with our community. The results will inform upcoming changes to our tools and practices to effectively provide and receive information.


As things continue to change – and/or stay the same, I remain appreciative of our FUSD community for engaging in efforts to grow, improve and move toward the high goals we set for ourselves.

Free Student Meals, Application Reminder

The Fremont Unified School District is able to provide healthy breakfast and lunch each day at no charge for all enrolled students during the 2022-23 school year.


Although no meal application is needed to receive free meals, parents/guardians of students enrolled in all schools except Cabrillo and Robertson are encouraged to complete the Meal Application Form available at https://fusdcafes.org to receive benefits for their students and/or families (various discounted services, fee waivers, program eligibility, etc.), and to support FUSD’s continued eligibility for specific funding.

FUSD Communication Survey

FUSD is engaging our community on how we can improve our communication tools and practices to strengthen our service to our community.

This survey is an effective way for members of our community to inform decisions moving forward.


All responses are anonymous and will help guide our efforts to inform and improve FUSD's communication strategies in the current school year and beyond.


This survey will be open through October 23, 2022.

Importance of Attendance

We have 180 days of instruction each school year. Each day of learning is important to your student's academic success, and each student brings valuable contributions to their classroom progress and culture when they're present.


When at all possible, please refrain from scheduling elective appointments and vacations that cause your student to miss school.

Preliminary 2021-22 CAASPP Results

The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) system of assessments includes the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) Summative Assessments, California Alternate Assessments (CAAs) and California Science Test (CAST). The tests are comprehensive end-of-year assessments of grade-level learning.


CAASPP data for the 2021-22 school year are preliminary and subject to change. Finalized statewide results are still undergoing a review and validation process, and are expected to be released by the California Department of Education later this year with the California School Dashboard.


FUSD’s preliminary SBAC results indicate that 78% of participating students met achievement standards in English language arts, 70% in math. Until the release of statewide data, we are not able to make accurate measures of FUSD’s learning outcomes compared to other districts in the Bay Area or the state.


Individual student score reports are available via the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. As a reminder, these tests are not a comprehensive assessment of an individual student’s full academic capacity, character, or effort.

Student Transit Pass Program

The Student Transit Pass Program provides free youth Clipper cards to eligible middle and high school students in Alameda County which can be used for unlimited free bus rides in their area, as well as a 50% discount on BART trips and youth discounts on other transit systems.


The Alameda County Transportation Commission implements the program to make it easier for students to travel to and from school and school-related programs, jobs and other activities.
