East Middle School

Parent Newsletter: May 17th

A Note From the Principal

Dear East Middle School Students, Parents, and Guardians:

Only a few more weeks of school, but we are not counting down! Our summer just won't be the same without the students around!

We've got some good nuts and bolts details within the newsletter, so make sure to review it! Before you scroll down, please see these important reminders:

  • Power Play permission slips have been sent home with your child, if they qualify, through science classrooms. They are due back by Monday. We will be looking at the final cut off requirements on Monday afternoon for grades and tardy/ hall conduct cards.
  • Yearbooks will not be passed out until May 25th, in time for the yearbook signing. Students not present on the 25th will need to pick up their yearbook from the EMS office from May 29th through June 15th.
  • Friday, May 25th is the last day of school for the year. It is a half day and school ends at 11:50AM. Lunch will not be served.

Is your student performing in the talent show on May 25th? Do you want to take part in the audience?

  • Talent show performance for 6th/7th graders will be from 8:30AM to 9:40AM.
  • Talent show performance for 7th/ 8th graders will be from 10:00AM to 11:10AM.

Check in to the EMS office for a visitor's sticker when you come for the talent show.

Thank you for all you do for the EMS community!

Sincerely,

Katie Campbell

Distinguished Alumni nomination period now open

Do you know someone who exemplifies the values, tradition, and successes of Raymore-Peculiar High School? It must be someone who graduated from RPHS, Raymore High School, or Peculiar High School, at least 10 years ago.

The Raymore-Peculiar Public School Foundation would like to honor and recognize these outstanding individuals with the annual Distinguished Alumni Award.

The 2018 winners of the award will be notified in August and will be honored at a luncheon, a tailgate party, and during the Homecoming Football Game on Sept. 14.

Anyone may nominate a graduate for consideration.

Nominations are due June 15. Eligibility and nomination information

The More You Know...About Vaping and E-Cigarettes...

What are E-Cigarettes: E-cigarettes, devices that typically deliver nicotine, flavorings, and other additives to users through an inhaled aerosol, are a rapidly emerging trend, and are especially popular among youth and young adults. These devices are referred to by a variety of names, including “e-cigs,” “e-hookahs,” “mods,” “vape pens,” “vapes,” and “tank systems.” E-cigarettes can also be used to deliver other drugs besides nicotine, such as marijuana.

What Can You Do: Talk to your student about the use of e-cigarettes and their dangers.
