Important Information for You!
The Next Few Weeks
Can you believe that we are just three weeks away from Christmas Break?!?! If you are keeping track on your calendar (and I hope that you are), you know that the coming weeks are very busy at school with special events and happenings and most likely very busy for families outside of school. I encourage you to keep daily schedules as close to normal as possible and be mindful in your planning in order to stimulate minds and keep children engaged through the fun. Also, please watch for students who might be struggling during the holidays and remember that holidays aren't always the happiest times for some families. Steady yourself, breathe deep, offer extra patience to our little ones, and enjoy this time.
Additionally, I would like to remind everyone that I will be attending MEMSPA this Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Mr. Lobban has arranged for Kay Forys to be in our building all three days. For those of you that don't know, Kay is a retired principal and was the principal that hired me when I began my career in Davison. She stopped by last week so we could talk about students and daily routines. Kay is very excited to spend three days with you and our kids,as an added 'special' her own grandsons are students in Andrea's room. Erin will continue to serve as head teacher and help Kay out this week.
Cool to Care Campaign
As you are aware, this year's Cool to Care will end with pick-up Wednesday, December 4th. Please make sure you send me your final tally so we can total for our building. If your classroom collected enough items for one, two, or all of the classroom prizes, please schedule this/these with Anna and/or Michael and Roy. Also, please make sure that all items are down and in the correct areas by Wednesday morning. We are typically one of the first stops on the pick-up route.
Santa's Secret Shop
As I shared earlier, our PTO will be doing a Santa's Secret Shop December 9th, 10th, and 11th. Just like last year, on December 11th any student who did not bring in money will be allowed to 'shop' with monies provided by the PTO and the company we work with to provide Santa's Secret Shop. Please let me know what questions you have. A 'shopping schedule' will be placed in your mailbox this week. Please check the schedule for any conflicts and let me know right away if you have one. Also, we need lots of parent/family volunteers to make this successful. If you could share with parents that we need volunteers it would be very helpful. Volunteers can either call the office to sign-up or sign-up through Sign-up Genius on the PTO's Facebook page.
The Power Pose
It may sound silly, but 2 minutes in a power pose has been proven to increase confidence levels and has resulted in significant positive changes for people. Next time your students are about to take a big assessment or you are about to host a learning lab, you just might give the Power Pose a try! Take a few moments to watch the video and maybe practice with your little ones this week.
Quotes Worth Reading
"Do the next right thing."
-Anna from Frozen II
This past weekend, we went to see Frozen II and quote above stuck with me. In all times, good, bad, exciting, stressful, happy, or sad, we always need to be thinking about what is the 'next right thing' we need to do. It isn't always about doing 'something', but rather the 'right thing'.
Fall Fundraiser Winners
Christine and I got to join in the fun, putting on squid hats with some of the top classroom sales winners from the fall fundraiser.
A Perfect Fit
Sue smile says it all!
Megan's room took a few minutes to take some Thanksgiving selfies. It was fun watching them pick out their props.

Do ONE Thing and Make a Big Difference!
During the busy holiday season, we need to remember to take care of ourselves too. Self care can be one of the hardest things to do because it requires taking time for yourself, time that is often hard to come by. However, self care is also one of the most important things you can do for yourself to reduce stress and increase happiness. This week, I encourage you to do at least one thing for you and only you and do it...see how it makes you feel to take time for yourself.
Celebrations & Announcements
Birthdays This Week: Melissa Tersigni, December 1st...happy, happy birthday to you!
This Friday-$5 Jean Day
This Friday will be a Thomson $5 Jean Day to support our adopted Christmas families. This will also be an opportunity for you to 'buy' up to two additional 'jean day' coupons to give as gifts to others...your morale pal or another staff member. If you are purchasing coupons as gifts, you will need to see Anna, please do not just mark it on the envelope alone. Since the holidays are about giving, you can not purchase them to keep for yourself...there may be another time for that or something even a little better, wink, wink.
The TEN DAYS of CHRISTMAS are just around the corner.
Watch for a special email later this week....
