#BES1team1dream Levels Up for ALL kids!!!
#allthethings in October!!!! WOOHOO!!
It's very easy this time of year to look at the calendar of events as things we HAVE to do. What if we looked at them as all of the things we GET TO do!! We get to meet with all of our Birmingham families during Parent-Teacher conferences. We get the opportunity to welcome them into our school and learn more about them and their child. We get the chance to strengthen that teacher-parent-student relationship! Think about it......
Message from the GREAT Jon Gordon (my friend):

Change your mindset from Have to....to Get to!!! Choose your attitude and your actions.... Learn, grow and be thankful..... Together, we ARE growing kids!! AND......We are growing each other!! No place I'd rather be!! #BES1team1dream Living The Dream!!
It doesn't matter if it's the unfinished construction, an upset parent, or the fact that I forgot my lunch home (again), I always try to find the positive....some days it's harder than others.
--How am I growing from this situation?
--How with this event provide me wisdom for the next obstacle? Etc.....
AND..... I'm intentional about putting myself in situations where I can surround myself with other people who are positive. If I'm being honest, I stray away from people who are negative and you should too!
Be selfish with your energy and your time. Hold your teammates accountable for being positive and finding the light in not so bright situations. While it may sound hokey, your energy can make or break your day! Our students NEED US to share OUR positive energy with them!! They pick up on our energy when maybe we "aren't feeling it" that day....AND this is likely a day when we have more discipline issues....am I right? As a mom, I know this is true 100%!! Grumpy mom = grumpy kids = not so much fun a The Doolan household.
My challenge this week is for you to revisit your walk-up song (especially on your late night of conferences) and focus on all of the things you GET TO do during the month of October!!
Confession: Lately, more days than not....It's a pink sunglasses kind of day for me!!

Just a reminder that district writing samples are due next Wednesday, October 10th at PLC’s. Writing window is September 17th-October 5th.
What to bring:
· Writing samples from each ESL student-2 from K-1 and 4 from 2nd-4th grades.
· Each sample must be scored, at least one goal on a sticky note, and PLD’s marked for each writing sample of how you graded the sample.
· Student’s first and last name and date on sample. ( student must write name and date and not the teacher) Exception is K-1 teachers may write student’s last name.
Thank you for all your support and hard work. I am excited to see the writing from our Bears.
Team Shout Outs and Smiles!!
The 1st grade team would like to recognize Lindsie Kline. She’s new to our team, but she works so hard and fits in so well that it seems like she’s always been one of the family! She’s an awesome addition to our team, and we’re so excited that she joined us!
Huge thank you to Debbie Inwood! I sent her an email about Read Naturally. She got me the information needed quickly and even reset my password after 6pm when I couldn’t do it myself! Thanks for the help!! -Amber Boley
