Cardinal Connections - Families
April 13, 2020
Dear, CVE Families!
We hope that you and your family are staying safe and healthy during this time of crisis in our country. On April 2nd, Governor Whitmer issued Executive Order No. 2020-35. This Executive Order (EO) suspended in-person instruction for the remainder of the school year. We are all incredibly saddened that we will not be able to spend the rest of the school year with our students in the traditional way. We recognize that this situation has been a hardship for our students and families. Our district is working very hard to provide support in every way possible.
The Executive Order issued does not end school. It just changes how instruction will be delivered. The EO provides us with many conditions that must be met as we plan for the rest of this “remote” school year. This week, your child will receive activities from their teachers in the same format as the two weeks prior to spring break. You will also receive activities in this format on Monday, April 20th. Our staff members have been collaborating to provide meaningful activities that will enhance our students’ social, emotional, academic, and physical skills. Attached, you will find the Weekly At Home Practice Activities. If you are seeking additional activities to challenge your child academically, we encourage our families to utilize the district’s Learn at Home webpage.
This time of the school year is important for both instruction and celebration. As educators, we will provide your children with the best “remote” education possible for the remainder of this school year. In accordance with the EO, our district plan for instruction will be modified beginning Wednesday, April 22nd. Our teachers will begin utilizing an online platform for instruction at this time. The platform will allow teachers to advance learning by providing lessons, practice, and other activities to engage students. The new online platform has many helpful features for teachers to support students and provide feedback. Our teachers will make every effort to support your child’s needs for the remainder of this school year. Specific details of this new plan will be shared by our district next week.
We hope you enjoyed and participated in our virtual spirit week last week. It was wonderful to engage our students even though we were not physically together. We have created another virtual spirit week opportunity for this week. For more details and information, please see the attached document or click here.
We look forward to brighter days when we can see our students’ smiling faces at school.
Sincerely,
Niyoka Wright
