Admiral's Log
Admiral Strong - Honor, Courage, and Steadfastness
Welcome Back!
We are so excited to welcome our students back to school on Monday, August 9. This is a half-day for students, which means we will dismiss at 11:15.
We hope you are recharged and ready to start a new school year. We look forward to working with our students and families! Our dedicated staff will be continuing to plan and prepare their classrooms this week. Our office staff continue to register many new families. Our custodians are working extra hard to clean our school and get it ready for the new school year. Our much-appreciated PTA is gearing up to welcome families, provide volunteer opportunities, and offer several exciting events and programs.
We realize the first day of school can be a nervous time for everyone. We have a plan to make sure every student is welcomed with open arms and escorted to his/her classroom safely. We will work hard to make school a positive experience for all our students. Thank you for understanding that it can take a few weeks for a child to acclimate to a new grade, peer group and teacher.
Students often have lots to carry that first day, but please do not send more than the student can carry. The next day they can bring more of their school supplies.
Students will be bringing home a folder with school-related information and forms the first day of school. This folder will include a welcome letter from the FIS Administration. We will continue to communicate via our "Admiral's Log", which is sent through ASPEN email. Your child's teacher will also be communicating through a weekly newsletter.
We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our students achieve their highest potential.
See you soon!
Debbie Adorante, Principal
Stacy Hilliard, Assistant Principal
Amy Schumpert, Assistant Principal

Car Riders and Walkers
Arrival Procedures: Students may arrive as early as 7:00. Do not drop off students before this time.
Our doors will open at 7:00 a.m. Students should only be dropped off in the car circle. If you choose to park and walk your child to the front door in the mornings, please park in the lower lot of the middle school. Please do not park in the staff parking lot, which is the one closest to our school.
For the safety of all, do NOT drop your child off in the parking lots. Students should only be dropped off in the car circle. Please be patient and help us expedite this process by pulling all the way around the circle to the next available cone and having your child ready to get out of the car quickly.
On the first two days of school, parents of third graders may walk their child into the gym. Teachers will be on post to receive students there.
Parents of students who are new to our building may walk their child through the front doors and into the foyer of our school building on the first two days of school. Our staff will be available to escort students to their appropriate areas.
Dismissal Procedures: Students will be dismissed at 2:45 p.m.
Parents should pick up students in the car circle. Staff will be calling students' names and directing cars to numbered cones. You can help to expedite the process by having your FIS car tag hanging on your front mirror. These will be given out at "Meet and Greet"/Open House on Thursday evening. If you do not have a car tag, please have your picture ID readily available. Please be patient as we have many car riders. Thank you!
If you choose to park and pick up your child at the cafeteria doors in the afternoon, please walk around the circle and do not cross through car pick up traffic. Signs and cones will be set up to help form the line at the cafeteria for picking up students. You will need your FIS car tag to pick up your child. If you do not have it, you will be asked to show your picture ID. Students will not be dismissed until 2:45 p.m.
Please note the following traffic lane change on West End Avenue:
The Town of Farragut made a change in the three lanes that are at the red light of West End Avenue and Kingston Pike. The right lane is for turning right only now. The middle lane is for turning left or going straight to cross Kingston Pike. The left lane is for turning left only.
