Spring Mills Shark Nation Notes
10/28/2022
Important Upcoming Dates
October 31st - Halloween Parade
November 3rd - Family Resource Night - LHS
November 7th - PTA Meeting
November 8th - No school for Students - Full day Professional Learning for Staff
November 10th & 15th - Parent Teacher Conferences
What a week. I want to thank all of you for your understanding regarding the accidental drill on Wednesday. Our staff was incredible, as always, making sure students were cared for. We are continuing to follow up with our contractors to ensure this does not happen again. We have our Run, Hide, Fight refresher training on Tuesday after school for all staff in the building as well.
5th graders had a terrific camp experience. I was incredibly proud of our Sharks and how they represented themselves, their families, and our school. Thank you again to all parents who volunteered their time to make this happen for our kids.
Just firming up our Halloween plans....
- Parade around the track, weather permitting
- Parade start time, roughly 2:45pm
- No parking on the basketball court area, for either golf carts or vehicles
- No golf carts stopped on the track, as we will be walking in that area
- If you plan on signing out your child(ren) after the parade, please let your child's teacher(s) know ahead of time. We will have students bring their belongings outside so that they don't need to re-enter the building
- Grade levels will have specific areas on the playground where they will be located after the parade for student sign-out
- Playground equipment will be closed during the parade
- Family viewing area for the parade will be on the INSIDE of the track so that we have a clear path back into the school
- No pets allowed
I've attached a picture/map of the playground and track so that you know where to go if you are signing your children out after the parade. If it rains, we will likely do as we did last year and just have the kids parade around the inside of the building for staff and students. We would make that decision by 1:30 at the latest.
Have a great weekend and week,
Sarah Bentley, SM Principal
Dressing for The Weather
Temperatures are now colder here in Highland and that means it is time for Hats, Coats and maybe even Gloves. Please make sure your student(s) are dressed warmly for outside recess. They will go outside each day unless there is inclement weather. When your student is dressed appropriately for the weather, they have a comfortable and happy recess! Should you need help obtaining warm clothing for your student you can reach out to Community Sharing at 248-889-0347.
