Your teachers will also be reaching out and connecting with you through Class Dojo. This is the communication platform that we will be using as our primary source of classroom to home connections. We will no longer be using Class Tag, as we did last year.
In closing, please know that my door is always open to you. I heartily welcome your conversation and positive input throughout this year. Let us always keep our students the primary focus of our work. I look forward to celebrating our collective successes during the 2022-2023 school year.

STAGGERED START SCHEDULE
First day for students with last names A - G: Wednesday, August 24th
First day for students with last names H - O: Thursday, August 25th
First day for students with last names P - Z: Friday, August 26th
Gradual entry is an arrangement by which our students begin the year by attending in smaller numbers for the first three days. Your child will attend only one of the three days, based on the first letter of their last name. This lessens anxiety and ensures greater teacher/student contact. Children stay all day (9:10 am-3:10 pm) with their classroom teacher on their staggered start day.
First day for ALL students: Monday, August 29th
As a reminder, doors open at 8:55 A.M. and instruction begins at 9:10 A.M.
School hours are 9:10am - 3:10pm.
Eastern Heights Campus Update:
When dropping students off or picking them up on campus, cars and buses will follow a specific one-way path in and out of the facility to ensure safety and to keep traffic flowing.
Please use patience and allow for hiccups as families navigate the paths in and out of the campus for the first few times this year.
As always, please be aware of students who are walking and riding their bikes to school and use extreme caution when approaching crosswalks and parking and walking areas in and around the campus.
The maps below illustrate the in/out pattern for car riders, busses and walkers when school resumes next week.

- Check out some community organizations and opportunities for involvement that will be set up in the cafeteria during this time.
Which class is my child in?
Arrival
Dismissal
CAR TAGS WILL BE AVAILABLE FROM YOUR TEACHER DURING THE FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL.
PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE THIS CAR TAG BEGINNING ON THE FIRSTFULL DAY OF SCHOOL (MONDAY, AUGUST 29TH)
Any parent/guardian picking up a student in the car rider line will need to make sure that their car rider tag is visible in the car. Please note that the purpose for this car rider tag is to ensure a safe and smooth dismissal at Eastern Heights Elementary.
If you park on a side street and/or walk up to get your child, please do the following:
- Your child will exit from the cafeteria doors and staff will escort them through the crosswalk you can escort them back to your car. This is the crosswalk at the entrance of Prospect and Cornell. This is a NEW LOCATION for walkers from last year.
- Parents will no longer be able to stand at the front doors to pick their students up as they come out. You will need to go down to the crosswalk near the corner of Prospect and Cornell.
Please understand that this is a NEW PROCESS for all of us. We ask for your patience and understanding for the first few weeks as we work out any issues with dismissal.
Free & Reduced Lunch Applications
Students at Eastern Heights Elementary School will receive a free breakfast , however ALL students need to complete the free/reduced lunch application. This is a change from the past 2 years. All students will no longer receive a free lunch, which is why filling out this application is exceptionally important. If you have any questions please reach out to the main office.
